Race 1 – Lidoran Group Pierro Plate (1100m)

1st Champagne Cuddles – Jason Collett
2nd Ace High – Jim Byrne
3rd Darhad – Joshua Parr

Lightz found the front with Darhad its outside, Ibanez was a length back pulling a touch in the run with Champagne Cuddles its inside, then a further two lengths to Mahal and Epidemic, and Ace High was seeing them all about five to six lengths from the leader.

Turning for home and Darhad found the lead with Lightz rolling off the fence, presenting a run for Champagne Cuddles. Epidemic was badly held up and Ace High was charging down the middle of the straight. Champagne Cuddles with the soft run in transit beat off Darhad and scored nicely from the fast finishing Ace High, followed by Darhad with the luckless Epidemic finishing fourth.

Race 2 – West Tradies CFMEU Handicap (1200m)

1st Eckstein – Mitchell Bell
2nd Star Of Monsoon – Joshua Parr
3rd Pound Sterling – Rory Hutchings

The favourite Il Riccio found the front with Fox Tales its outside, and Pound Sterling found himself on the leaders back with Ozark its outside. Next came Eckstein who was pulling hard for the rider, Star Of Monsoon was its inside, and Cadogan brought up the tail.

On the swing for home and the field of seven fanned across the straight, Pound Sterling hitting the front with 200m to go with Eckstein, Star Of Monsoon and Cadogan giving chase. In the concluding stages Eckstein got the better of Star Of Monsoon to record its second win this preparation. Cadogan ran on soundly just out of the placings.

Race 3 – AMWU Handicap (1500m)

1st Moher – Nick Heywood (a)
2nd Pianissimo – Rory Hutchings
3rd Multifacets – Lee Magorrian (a)

Moher jumped well and crossed to lead comfortably from Nassak with a length back to Legendary Luke.  It was then a further two lengths to Pianissimo, Bank On Henry, Collar, and Multifacets whipped them in. Moher was setting a good tempo and had them strung out.

A clever and confident ride from Nick Heywood on Moher set him alight before the turn and got the rest of the field off the bit. Multifacets and Pianissimo both ran on soundly without ever threatening the winner. No one else made any head way down the straight. Moher cruised to victory by over three lengths.

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1300m)

1st Delightful Feeling – Christian Reith
2nd Al Cubana – Jason Collett
3rd Nic’s Vendetta – Andrew Adkins (a)

Joey’s Destiny and Nic’s Vendetta found the lead, Fuel was caught wide behind them with Artistic Beauty ridden out to hold an early position, Beau Hoffa its inside. Don’t Doubt Her and Dramatico were trapped very wide. Delightful Feeling was midfield and caught in traffic with Al Cubana and Bills A Goodie a further length behind, and Caribbean Concert was tailed off five lengths last. It was a charge of the light brigade!

Turning for home and the swoopers look suited, Nic’s Vendetta found the lead at the 300m with Artistic Beauty and Delightful Feeling giving chase and Al Cubana starting to weave a passage from a long way back. In a thrilling finish the early work told and Delightful Feeling reined in Nic’s Vendetta to just score. Al Cubana was a real eye catcher finishing very hard late. Nic’s Vendetta brave again on pace.

Race 5 – CFMEU Mining Handicap (1350m)

1st Metallic Crown – Rory Hutchings
2nd Royal Tudor – Christian Reith
3rd Maraam – Bobby El’lssa

Chestnut Road missed it a length and Metallic Crown found the lead comfortably a length ahead of Top Me Up, with Maraam a further length back on the fence. Royal Tudor was sitting its outside. It was then a length to Asinara with Chestnut Road its inside. Magicus was seeing them all about eight lengths off the lead and racing very keen for the rider.

On the turn for home Metallic Crown pinched a couple of lengths lead with Royal Tudor, Maraam and Top Me Up giving chase: these looked to be the only winning chances. With 100m to go a line of four was formed with any of them looking a chance. Metallic Crown fought on strongly to just hold on from his rivals in an exciting finish. All three behind the winner had their chance to run Metallic Crown down in the straight.

Race 6 – Vincents Country Classic (1200m)

1st Flitero – Christian Reith
2nd Avroson – Jason Collett
3rd New Divide – Andrew Adkins (a)

Thunder Set found the lead and set a good pace in the big field, with Zero To Ten its back. Mysticism was a further length back with New Divide its inside. It was a further length back to Grand Rouge with Avroson on its inside. Don’t Nicme was caught very wide. Flitero found himself midfield eight lengths from the leader. Ashtomina was last and would have been fifteen lengths off the lead. A very solid tempo was set.

Thunder Set had enough by the turn and Zero To Ten found the lead, but not for long as New Divide ducked back to the fence and started to make its run. Last Try Wins, Avroson, Mysticism, Flitero and Lonely Orphan all giving chase. It was anyone’s race at the 200m, Flitero continued to respond best and only just won in a very competitive race. Lady Orphan made good ground in the straight.

Race 7 – Blacktown Workers Handicap (1800m)

1st New Tipperary – Brenton Avdulla
2nd Herne’s Oak – Jason Collett
3rd Vassal – Thomas Huet

Bentles from its wide draw was able to cross and lead from New Tipperary, a length back to Herne’s Oak on the fence with Tower Of Song its outside, a further two lengths back to the well tried Vassal. Our Boy Nicholas was seeing them all 8-10 lengths off a genuine speed.

On the turn Bentles came off the fence presenting runs for both Herne’s Oak and Vassal, who started to let down with strong runs along with New Tipperary. Under strong riding from Avdulla, New Tipperary kicked strongly at the 150m mark to record a strong victory from Herne’s Oak and Vassal who both had their chances to catch the winner, nothing else made ground up the running.

Race 8 – Bradford Soundscreen Handicap (1200m)

1st Cana – Christian Reith
2nd Wine Tales – Lee Magorrian (a)
3rd Leami Astray – Kathy O’Hara

Frill Seeking pinged the lids a couple lengths in front of Leami Astry, a further two lengths to In The Vanguard with Cana its inside, then a length to Brigadoon Rise and Trois Choix. Wine Tales was last and ten lengths off the hot speed.

On the turn Heywood kicked Frill Seeking out to a three length lead with Cana and Leami Astray in hot pursuit, while Wine Tales and Cab Fair were starting to unwind from a long way back. In the last 100m the race completely changed shape as the tearaway leader folded up and Cana pounced with Wine Tales flashing home. Cana just lasted to record victory with Wine Tales winning the race if it had gone one more hop.

Race 9 – Viridian Lightbridge Handicap (1100m)

1st Upscale – Brenton Avdulla
2nd Highly Geared – Matthew Mcgillivray (a)
3rd Alart – Joshua Parr

Highly Geared ridden out of the gates found the front from Sabino Speed. Upscale had the leaders back with Cosmic Cameo its outside. Elemenohpee found himself three deep for the trip. Alart was also trapped wide but with cover. It was a further two lengths to Chrysolaus with Escebee bringing up the rear ten lengths from the lead.

Highly Geared gave a strong kick at the top of the straight and kicked clear. Upscale peeled off the leaders back and was letting down to give chase. Alart looked the only other winning chance with 200m to go. Highly Geared looked like he may hold on but Avdulla sat down to ride hard and lifted Upscale over the line to victory in a stirring finish. Elemenohpee battled away well in the straight after a hard run and Alart ran on very well from the back.
