Snowy’s preview: The Slipper looks a race with abundant speed with Extreme Choice, Kiss And Make Up, French Fern pressing forward along with Astern, Capitalist, Good Standing, and Honesty Prevails all possessing enough speed to contest if desired.
For this reason I have settled on Flying Artie as top pick. The Blue Diamond was the highest rating 2yo race of the year by some way. The query is the two favourites repeating that rating 3 weeks later after travelling interstate. Thought there was little between both horses runs, but feel Flying Artie will be better suited by the map here along with it looking to have more scope for improvement than it’s short-priced stablemate.
Kiss And Make Up could be the danger. A horse that has shown rapid improvement every time it has been seen publicly. Improved from trial to mid-week win, then again to win the Todman. Similar improvement here and will be hard to run down.
Think the best roughie in the race is clearly Telprion. Resumed with a stylish win 1st up, showing very good turn of foot. Completely unsuited by bias and speed of the race 2nd up and still hit the line well. Trialled super with blinkers on since and looks really well suited by the map here and is huge odds each-way despite the international jockey.
