Caulfield horse racing tips

Rail out 9m normally favours on-pacers, but the track should play even. The Northerly wind means you normally need cover down the side and into the straight.

Race 6 (1200m – Open HCP – Listed Race)

#3 Brave Smash (Lane / Weir)
Arguably should have won 1st up. Then rated slightly down 2nd up at Moonee Valley. Should be able to bounce back to 1st up rating and be on track for an Everest run.

Race 7 (2000m – Open HCP – Group 3)

#2 Tally (Walker / Cummings)
Hit the line hard 2nd up over 1700m. Should be ready to step to near best at 2000m.

#3 Big Duke (Allen / Weir)
Ran well 1st up and then not suited by bias last start at Moonee Valley. Can improve dramatically here.

#6 Stampede (Mertens / Waterhouse & Bott)
Won well 1st up over 1600m. Good record this trip. Rolls forward and looks to lead.

#7 Boom Time (Parish / Hayes & Dabernig)
Ran well 1st up then flat run 2nd up. Can bounce back here out to preferred trip.

#8 Harlem (Dunn / Hayes & Dabernig)
Ran on strong through the line 1st up over 1700m. With natural improvement looks well suited this trip.

#9 Amelie’s Star (Lane / Weir)
Good run two back over 1700m, then held up in run last start. Comes here off quick back-up and out to preferred trip. Can run to best.

#10 Abbey Marie (Nolen / Kent)
Ran well 2nd up in WFA race. Impressive winner only run this distance.

#15 Samovare (Callow / Hayes & Dabernig)
Ran on nicely last start against bias. First run this trip but solid claims if can hold rating.

Race 8 (1200m – Mares Open HCP SWP – Group 3)

Another tough race.

#1 Prompt Response (Baster / Waterhouse & Bott)
Resumes here. Will race on pace and has good fresh record.

#3 Savanna Amour (Rawiller / Meagher)
Racing consistently. Solid win last start in this class and good chance to hold that rating here.

#4 Legless Veuve (Currie / Webb)
Good fresh. Has trialled well and is drawn well.

#5 Fuhryk (Mertens / Hayes & Dabernig)
Had excuses 1st up when extremely short in the market. Can run to best here.

#6 Ravi (Dunn / Snowden)
Impressive winner 1st up in Sydney and only has to hold rating here. Stable has winning ways down here.

#7 Missrock (Oliver / Laing)
In career best form since sticking to sprint distances. Last 1200m run was G1 Goodwood running 2nd to Vega Magic.

#9 Ellicazoom (Parnham / Parnham)
Handy mare resuming. Has solid claims if forward enough.

#15 Moonlites Choice (Yendall / Weir)
Comes here off short break. Produced peak figure this track and distance 2 runs ago. Solid claims if can reproduce.

Race 9 (1200m – 4yo+ Mares BM90 HCP)

#7 Merriest (Marshall / O’Brien)
Caught wide 1st up. Can improve here 2nd up. Well weighted with claim.

#8 Sebring Dream (Dee / Hayes & Dabernig)
Won well 1st up last prep. Has solid claims if can reproduce same run this prep.

#9 Princess Of Queens (Mertens / Price)
Rolls forward to race on the pace. Is racing consistently and going well enough to figure in the finish.

#11 Petition (Lane / Freedman)
Slightly disappointing 1st up but did produce peak rating 2nd up last prep and gets senior rider on. Can improve dramatically.

#12 Sea The Sparkle (Allen / Weir)
Ran well 2 runs ago then slightly disappointing ls when ridden up on the pace. Better ridden quietly.

#13 Jamaican Rain (Mott / Laming)
5yo mare who has produced massive spike figure last start in Adelaide. The won to beat if holds rating.

Trevor Lawson knows the Caulfield track better than anyone and will be finding the best value runners for Melbourne ratings members. Get on board for best bets at 9am and then a full set of ratings to attack the afternoon.
