Caulfield quaddie tips
Forecast is for 35-50k northerly winds which normally impacts the leaders as its into their face down the side and on the corner.
But to counter that, the rail is in the true which normally helps leaders.
I’ll head there today to walk the track and get a better feel for how it should play. Have to go back a long way to find similar conditions.
Race 6 (1200m – 3YOF OPEN HCP)
#2 O’racheal (Waller / Oliver)
Unlucky at first Melbourne run from a wide barrier. Draws better here and should sit handy to the speed.
#4 Abriola (Hayes & Dabernig / Bayliss)
Held up last start and didn’t have any luck. Previous runs OK. Will be up on the pace.
#5 If Not Now When (Dwyer / Allen)
Comes out of the same race as the other two. Hit the line nicely last start. Should be thereabouts.
#6 Miss Vesper (Hughes jnr / Melham)
Good at Moonee Valley then had no peace at Caulfield last start. Slight query at 1200m but has claims.
#8 Mandee (Maher / Lane)
Consistent horse. Will settle handy and gets D Lane.
#10 Queen Annabel (Griffiths / Caserta)
Ran well on debut then not suited 2nd-up when got too far back. May not have run the 1400m last week. On the quick back-up can improve.
Race 7 (1400m – 3YO OPEN HCP)
#2 Nikitas (Weir / Allen)
Box seated the other day. Drawn a bit awkward tomorrow. Some claims.
#3 Revolving Door (McDonald / Zahra)
Arguably a good thing beaten last start. Caught wide the entire trip. Better draw tomorrow and senior jock goes on.
#6 Enigman (Maher / Dee)
Got checked at the start last start coming through the same race as the other two. Was never in the right spot last start. Inside draw helps here.
#8 Wayanka (Waller / Williams)
Had no luck his past two. Drew inside at Flemington and over-raced. Jumped awkwardly last start from wide barrier and had to go right back. Worked home well. Better draw here and Williams goes back on.
Race 8 (1200m – GROUP 3 WFA)
#2 Keen Array (Hayes & Dabernig / Bayliss)
1st up and races well here. Has jumped out well leading into this.
#7 Supido (Kent / Mertens)
Won well 1st up and looked to have more to give. The horse to beat.
#9 Murt The Flirt (McCarthy / Symons)
Terrific 1st up behind Supido. Got shuffled out the back to last and hit the line well.
#10 Chocolate Holic (Weir / Lane)
The unknown here. Listed winner from WA having his first start in VIC. Stable’s preferred jock goes on.
#12 Ability (Smerdon / Williams)
Undefeated this prep. Racing well. Definite chance.
(Excluding Lankan Rupee – looks unders).
Race 9 (1700m – BM84)
#5 Portion Control (Hayes & Dabernig / Parish)
Produced career peak last start winning over this trip. Maps to get similar run.
#11 Cosmic Lights (Morgan / Williams)
In reasonable form. Was unsuited last start getting back. Can roll forward here.
#13 Electric Fusion (Christie / Baster)
Returned to form last start. Has performed well in the past on the quick back-up. Doesn’t win too often but maps well.
#16 Galaxy Raider (Eurell / Berriman)
Good thing beaten at Bendigo two starts ago. Got too far back last start. Just needs even luck in the run.
