footy betting market review

This week’s footy betting market review sees a surprise packet sit second in the AFL line ladder, while the in the NRL it’s a similar story with the market struggling to keep up with the current wooden-spooners.

AFL

There are no surprises with Geelong on top of the line ladder… but second place is definitely an eye-opener.

Carlton cleared yet another line on the weekend, taking their season record to 5–1… the market simply cannot catch them.

While their struggles to break through in a win/loss sense are well documented, the Blues have been very, very good to line punters this year. They continue to outperform the market’s expectations in what is very promising signs for Carlton supporters, even if they are sick of the “honourable losses”!

Elsewhere, Essendon look good with another solid performance against the favoured Pies… again, their supporters are hugely frustrated, but at 4-2 they’ve been kind to punters.

Down the bottom, Melbourne’s annus horribilis continues. The Dees were handed a 13.5 point head start by the market, but that proved not nearly generous enough as the Tigers walked all over them to the tune of 43 points.

On average, Melbourne have missed their lines this year by six goals per game. It’s stinky, stinky form and it’s hard to justify backing them unless the bookies get a lot more generous.

NRL

The lowly Bulldogs have become a punter’s friend this year, covering in 4 of their first 7 matches after a big win on the weekend.

Despite sitting dead last on the league ladder, the Doggies are outplaying expectations to sit 7th on our line ladder.

There’s little surprises at the top, with the Roosters covering 6 times in 7 games, while the Sea Eagles and Tigers have also outperformed expectations on a regular basis.

The Storm have gone the other way, covering just 3 times despite winning 6 of their first 7 matches, which is typical for a side that always seems to peak in September.

Despite big wins on the weekend, the Broncos and Knights only have one team below them; that being the Panthers, who look to be struggling on and off the field at the minute.
