Trevor Lawson’s Oaks Day Quaddie 2017

No surprise that Trevor has Aloisia one-out in the quaddie, but there are quite a few chances in the other three legs.

The rail goes out to 3m. Expect the track to pretty well again without any bias.

Race 6 Absolut Stakes – 1000m

#2 Ball Of Muscle (Schofield / Pride)
On-pacer who has raced in better class races. Comes back to the 1000m which should suit. Only negative is that it’s a long time since it has won.

#3 Badajoz (McEvoy / Cummings)
Ran well at Caulfield then held up in the straight last start. Should get clear running here.

#4 Shaf (Bowman / Hayes & Dabernig)
Good horse fresh who has been racing consistently. Has run well down the straight in the past.

#5 Crystal Dreamer (Lane / Ellerton & Zahra)
Good first up then no luck last two. Has run well down the straight and a good record at this distance.

Race 7 Seppelt Wines Stakes – 1800m

#2 Sambro (Bowman / Waller)
Backs up from last Saturday when narrowly beaten. Goes out to this distance for the first time but has been racing consistently.

#4 Black Sail (Lane / Purcell)
Has improved each run this prep. Fought on strongly last time. Looks suited out to 1800.

#5 Sky Boy (Brown / Cummings)
Won well last start producing good figure. Solid claims here.

#6 Irish Vega (McEvoy / Freedman)
Terrific run coming from well back on Staurday. Only has to hold rating here.

#11 Woulda Thought So (Dunn / Hayes & Dabernig)
Big win at Ballarat when stormed home out wide. Pulled up with issues last start. Looks suited at this distance.

#14 Pageantry (Avdulla / Freedman)
Ran well two starts ago at FLemington when wide all the way. Then held up badly for a run last start. Likely improver.

#15 Sweet Victory (Clark / Newnham)
Walked in at Hawkesbury winning maiden by a big margin in good time. Looks progressive type.

Race 8 Kennedy Oaks (Group 1) – 2500m

#1 Aloisia (Nolen / Purcell)

Progressive filly who has improved her ratings significantly at each run. Doesn’t have to run anywhere near best to beat these.

Race 9 Kennedy Plate (Group 3) – 1100m

#1 Debonairly (McEvoy / Waterhouse & Bott)
First-up filly who has produced good figures as a 2yo. Stable is flying.

#3 Split Lip (Meech / Clarken)
Comes out of hot form race last start where run off feet. Previous runs were good.

#4 Jorda (Bowman / Cummings)
Comes through same hot race two runs ago. Then held up last start. Can improve dramatically here.

#5 Demerara (Avdulla / Cummings)
Slightly disapppointing last start. May have struggled getting around the tight Valley track. Can improve here down the straight.

#6 I Am Excited (Shinn / Pfieffer)
Comes here off a freshen up. Resumed in August in hot race won by Menari. Can run close to best here.

#11 Divine Messenger (Melham / Smerdon)
Ran well here two starts ago then no luck in running last start. Can bounce back here.

#13 Wrapsody (Dee / Purcell)
Resumed in Echuca maiden producing best sectionals of the day in arrogant win. Looks well above average.
