Race 1 – Stratum Star to Widden Handicap (1100m)

Nothing of note in this race.

Race 2 – Schweppervesence Handicap (1200m)

I Thought So (6th) – Not Tim’s best ride on this one, sent back to last and then made a mid-race move sitting 3-4 wide on the speed. Turning for home the hard run told and was unable to sprint with them. Happy to give another chance on that performance going forward as previous form was very good. Keep following.

Race 3 – ATC Heritage Centre Handicap (1600m)

Oklahoma Girl (1st) – Missed the kick slightly and settled in the tail of the field. On the turn was hooked out to the middle of the track to make her run. In the last 200m she quickened very well to reign in the leaders. That has now made it 3 from 3 at 1600m. She is racing well.

Race 4 – Schweppes Randwick Royale Handicap (2400m)

Note – I will be happy to take on Richard Of Yorke if he goes around again at a very short quote. Given the perfect ride, he took all day and was under hard riding and he finally ran down the leaders in what was a moderate field.

Race 5 – TAB Highway Handicap (1400m)

Nothing of note in this race.

Race 6 – ATC Membership (1600m)

Montauk (2nd) – Back to 1600m after a freshen up. Settled second on what was a solid speed. Turning for home was left a touch flatfooted, but hit the line solidly to run second. Once he hits 2000m he will hard to beat again. Good return.

Race 7 – Ranvet (1000m)

Nieta (1st) – Settled possibly a touch closer to the speed that what we would have expected, but turning for home she showed her customary turn of foot to run to the lead and hold off I Am Zelady. She now heads to Scone and will be very hard to beat. Classy mare.

Race 8 – Schweppes Sydney Cup (3200m)

Big Duke (3rd) – First go at 3200m and settled back in the field. Given a bit of a task to run down the leaders, he hit the line as good as anything. Probably be spelled now but look for him in the Spring –  very talent stayer with more wins on the way.

Race 9 – Handicap (1400m)

Moss ‘n’ Dale (1st) – Set a solid pace outside the leader and kicked strongly at the top of the straight to hold on and win in a dead heat with Roaring To Win. Was entitled to knock up, however racing in great heart and loves a wet track. Can continue to be followed.

Race 10 – Handicap (1400m)

Anisha (3rd) – Settled last in the run and looked no hope on turning for home when the jockey produced the stick. Halfway down the straight was starting to take many lengths off the leaders but started to lay in and cost herself any chance of winning. Should have finished a lot closer. Racing well.
