Runners to watch: Randwick, April 15th

Shane Adair's blackbookers and notes from Randwick.

Race 1 – TAB Highway Handicap (1200m)

Nothing of note in this race.

Race 2 – IGA Liqour Handicap (1200m)

Knit ‘N’ Purl (4th) – Settled a long last in the run, and turning for home looked to have little to no chance to being in the finish. She made steady ground up the straight and took many lengths off the winner in the final 200m. Racing in great heart this preparation and can continue to be followed.

Race 3 – Frank Packer Plate (1100m)

Mongolian Wolf (1st) – His first start for Weir and in Australia. Settled midfield in the run and when straightening looked to be cruising with Avdulla sitting pretty.  When let down for the big effort he tended to lay out in the straight, but was just to good for them. High class Kiwi galloper that can be followed.

Race 4 – Hall Mark Stakes (1200m)

Redzel (1st) – Finally got his win this preparation. Jumped to the lead and looked to be travelling into the straight. Once the pressure came he kicked strongly, and was coming away from them again on the line to record a very strong victory. Racing well and can be followed.

Race 5 – Japan Racing Association Plate (2000m)

New Tipperary (5th) – Trapped wide in the early stages of the event and had to use a bit of petrol to get outside the leader. Once turning for home was unable to kick with the winner who had had a soft lead. Has ability and is better than that effort today. Keep following

Race 6 – Champagne Stakes (1600m)

Invader (2nd) – Another leader wins! Invader was well back and commenced a three wide run. This was not the place to be today. Tried hard down the straight and the placegetters beat 4th easily. He is a high class 2YO and can be followed next preparation.

Race 7 – All Aged Stakes (1400m)

Tivaci (1st) – Huge run, settled last and three wide, turning for home looked little chance. Produced a big run down the middle of track to rein in the two leaders and produce an excellent victory. Racing in great heart. Keep following.

Race 8 – J H B Carr Stakes (1400m)

Raiment (1st) – Sat 3-4 wide the trip and Doyle looked to have a strangle hold on him turning for home. Let down at the 200m and she exploded away to destroy them. She is a very talented filly and more wins are in store for her.

Race 9 – HKJC Trophy (1400m)

Fabrizio (12th) – Talented individual but that is two bad failures in his last two starts. He’s now on the sacked list until he does something.

Ruling Dynasty (5th) – First up and settled well back in the field. Not noted for his ability over this trip, he produced a huge finish to just finish behind the placegetters. Looks set for a winning preparation.
