Race reviews: Randwick, August 5th

Race 1 – (1200m)

Note – Competitive finish with winner Shogun Sun proving to strong in the concluding stages after being given a nice run behind the speed. Addictive Nature ran well again running second after leading without much peace. Favourite and well supported Brave Song didn’t finish it off and was a touch disappointing on face value. All other runners had there chance

Race 2 – #theraces Handicap (1800m)

Note – Wahng Wah sprinted well from back in the field to win eased down at the end and look to really the step up in trip. Miss Dubois ran on soundly for second however being every chance. Diapason was good holidng onto the third after being on pace as most of leaders knocked up in the straight. La Chica Bella & Long Time Ago didn’t see out the trip and still have the query against them at 1600m+ for now.

Race 3 – Cindy Sullivan Memorial Handicap (1400m)

King Darci (1st) – Won well, Jumped well to sit behind the leader, off the bit before the turn chasing the leader and responded under the hard riding. The best part of his race was the final 200m when running away from the field and winning quite comfortably. Holds form once he has found it and can be followed in similar class.

Note – Imperator Augustus lead unpressured and kicked strongly before the turn and was every chance holding on for second. Francesco ran on very well from the back and looks read to win as well very soon. Muraqaba also ran on soundly to just miss the placings

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1400m)

Note – Nice win from Care To Think coming from second last on the turn, after the early pace was quick to score running away. Has ability and can be followed in similar class. Makfi Lass ran on well also from the back in the field to run second. Puzzling Wonder was good in running third as it sat closer to the speed. Gitan went quickly in front however offered little in the straight and knocked up to finish down the track

Race 5 – John & Denise Cobcroft Recognition Handicap (2400m)

Note  – Sayed bolted in sitting back on a hot speed set by Ashlee Marie to win by almost 6 lengths. Get On The Grange ran well finished second, forced wide on turning and did beat third by over 3 lengths. Go Benny continues to hold his consistent form running third and can win in lower grade. Life O’Brien was in awkward position on turning being held up and couldn’t quicken to be in the finish.

Race 6 – Jockey Celebration Day Handicap (1600m)

Note – Steyne well ridden by Andrew Adkins landed the prize sitting midfield and sprinting to quickly to score. Admiral Jello looks ready to run a big race next start after too runs this preparation, running on soundly for second. Invincible Knight ran on strongly from the tail to just miss the placings, just too far back today. Gold Ambition was a good third sitting midfield and wide in the run, looks ready to step up further in trip

Race 7 – Missile Stakes (1200m)

Note – Excellent first up victory for Invincible Gem sitting back in the field and letting down sharply in the final 200m to win over Le Romain who was good in running second after being 3 wide the trip. The Monstar was a good third with the big class rise and can win again soon back in his right grade.

Race 8 –  Handicap (1000m)

Note – Sangiovese snuck home after being specked in betting, sitting in a perfect position he got the gaps at the right time to score the prize. Launch Code was second and every chance after being given a nice run. Tango Rain was good after tracking wide in the run holding third.  Noticed Realise Potential & Pro Consul hitting the line well late to just miss the placings,

Race 9 – Schweppes Handicap (1200m)

Note – Mana got the job done in the last after sitting wide on a moderate tempo. Alluvion specked in betting boxed on solidly after being on pace into second. Argent D’or very good running on into third off the slow pace. Happy to forgive both Ghostly & Kings Of Leon both back and wide off the slow speed.
