Caulfield Quaddie Preview
Trevor Lawson is back with his Caulfield Quaddie tips for this Saturday, going skinny in the third leg in the hope of a nice collect.
Race 6 – The Sheen Panel Service Handicap (1200m)
#1 Bel Sonic (Jason Warren / Ben Melham)Promising three-year-old resuming here, has run well in past two fresh runs. #2 Vainstream (John Pascoe / Noel Callow)Won well at Pakenham and then honest last start in high-rating race. Can continue that form here. #3 Sun Quan (Mick Price / Daniel Moor)Ran well first-up over this trip. Should strip fitter here second-up. #4 Written Choice (Logan McGill / Fred Kersley)Terrific win over shorter trip here. Coming off freshen-up and solid claims here. Slight concern out to 1200m. #5 Wassergeist (Busuttin & Young / Linda Meech)Won well when resuming at Pakenham, coming from last. Will be strong late. #6 Raspberry Rose (Richard Laming / Zac Spain)Won both runs this prep. Racing consistently. Drops significantly in weight. #7 Boom Chicka Boom (Mick Price / Michael Dee)Ran well when resuming over slightly shorter trip. Should handle 1200m.
Race 7 – Darren Gauci Handicap (1100m)
#2 Murphy’s Reward (Hayes & Dabernig / Fred Kersley)Ran well at Warrnambool. Has been holding rating and has solid claims here. #3 Wise Hero (John Price / Stephanie Thornton)Resumes from short break. Raced very consistently when last in work. Horse to beat here. #8 Inn Keeper (Symon Wilde / Linda Meech)Won both runs this prep. Powered away last start at Warrnambool for easy win. Chances enhanced on wet track. #11 Manolo Blahniq (Tony Noonan / Jake Noonan)Resumes from short break. Raced consistently last prep and does run well fresh. #12 Princeton Spirit (Julius Sandhu / Ethan Brown)Resumed at Moonee Valley when in need of run, before powering away at Sandown when second-up. Looks good form for this.
Race 8 – Le Pine Funerals Handicap (2000m)
#1 Mahamedeis (Nick Ryan / James Winks)
Terrific win second-up over shorter trip. Steps to 2000m but has won only time at this distance.
#2 Furrion (Darren Weir / Brad Rawiller)
Unbeaten three-year-old who has stepped up nicely in distance each time. Looks ready for the 2000m and doesn’t look to have bottomed out yet.
Race 9 – Catanach’s Jewellers Handicap (2000m)
#1 Hursley (Chris Waller / Ethan Brown)
Well beaten first-up off long spell. Greatly improved last start at this distance, should be ready to run to best here.
#5 Our Peaky Blinders (Busuttin & Young / Linda Meech)
Had four runs in off short break, culminating in win at this distance last start. Should be able to hold rating here.
#8 Sunday Pray (John Moloney / Ben Thompson)
Racing consistently over shorter distances. Only try at this trip was end-of-prep run as a three-year-old. May be looking for this distance now.
#11 Noumea (James Cummings / Jake Noonan)
Battled away okay over this distance last start. Can improve again in second run at this trip. Blinkers on.
