Caulfield Quaddie Preview
Trev’s back with his Caulfield Quaddie tips for Saturday, with plenty of value about.
Race 6 - 3yo VOBIS Sires (1600m)
#1 Cliff’s Edge (Darren Weir / Jamie Mott)
The quality horse in the race with a clear class edge. Had 28 days between runs and is spelling after this, if is right here will win.
#2 Mahamedeis (Nick Ryan / James Winks)
Not suited first-up over shorter trip. Looks nice progressive type. Can improve dramatically here.
#6 Street Sheik (Patrick Payne / Billy Egan)
May have just needed the run last start, can improve here.
#11 Temple Of Bel (Tony McEvoy / Craig Williams)
Couldn’t get into the race first-up. Has changed stables since. Had terrific figures in the spring and can improve dramatically here.
Race 7 - Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m)
#2 Santa Ana Lane (Anthony Freedman / Ben Melham)
Resumes from spell. Group 1 winner in the spring and can sprint well fresh.
#3 Bons Away (Ciaron Maher / Noel Callow)
Has run well both runs this prep in Group 1 races. Better suited here back in class.
#8 Whispering Brook (Darren Weir)
Dual accepted in Adelaide. Won well first-up then slightly flat, can bounce back here.
#10 Husson Eagle (Patrick Payne / Billy Egan)
Terrific run in the Hareeba at Mornington hitting the line hard. Will be getting home hard here.
#11 Sprightly Lass (Team Hawkes / Dwayne Dunn)
Lost last start on protest and arguably should be undefeated across career. Can make amends here.
#12 Property (Henry Dwyer / Craig Williams)
Former top class 2YO who didn’t come on in the spring. Resumes here, can feature if somewhere near best.
Race 8 - VOBIS Gold Sprint (1200m)
#1 Keen Array (Hayes & Dabernig / Dwayne Dunn)
Resumes from spell here. Has good record this trip and is well down in class.
#2 Rich Charm (Udyta Clarke / Patrick Moloney)
Races well here. Comes back from Group 1 class and better suited back in this grade. Will be getting home hard.
#3 Demonstrate (Allan & Jason Williams / Craig Williams)
Has improved each run this prep for new trainers. Just has to hold rating here to be good chance.
#7 Lucky Liberty (Henry Dwyer / Ben Melham)
May not have got around tight Mornington track last start. Better suited here, will be running on.
Race 9 - TROA Anniversary Vase (1400m)
#3 Amovatio (Chris Waller / Stephen Baster)
Get-back type who needs some luck, but has been racing well. Solid chance
#5 He Or She (Hayes & Dabernig / Noel Callow)
Resumes here. Didn’t quite come up in the spring but well down in class. If anywhere near right can feature.
#6 Fastnet Tempest (Hayes & Dabernig / Craig Williams)
Had two runs back from spell, should be nearing peak fitness. Hit line hard last start.
#7 Theanswermyfriend (Henry Dwyer / Ben Melham)
Narrowly beaten first up, slightly disappointing second up. Jury out. If improves can be a good chance here.
#10 Schism (Ciaron Maher / Daniel Moor)
Third-up now, should be ready to run to peak, has good record this distance.
#13 Land Of Plenty (Darren Weir / Ben Allen)
Terrific win second-up last start, can go on with that here. Will be getting home hard.
