Caulfield Quaddie Preview

Track/Weather: Rail true, expecting track to play even

Race 6

#2 Widgee Turf (P.Payne / W.J.Egan)
Unbeaten this preparation with two impressive wins. Looks suited out to 1600m.

#8 Miles Of Krishan (D. & B.Hayes & T.Dabernig / R.Bayliss)
Racing consistently and will race on the pace, gives it some chance against top favourite.

Race 7

#2 Wilde Gem (N.J.Harnett / S.M.Thornton)
Closed hard last start over shorter trip. Looks like this distance will suit.

#3 Epic Moment (M.Price / M.J.Dee)
Terrific win at Mornington producing very high rating. Should be able to hold here.

#4 Manolo Blahniq (A.W.Noonan / C.Williams)
Has run well both runs this prep that form is good enough to be competitive here.

#11 Prevailing Winds (D.K.Weir / D.M.Lane)
No luck last start at vital stage. Racing consistently should be competitive.

#13 Barchetta (A.J.Purcell / B.Mertens)
Won well at Echuca. Strong through the line. Looks the improving type.

#15 Crystal Spirit (M.Ellerton & S.Zahra / L.Riordan)
Racing consistently. Gets in well here with the claim. Maps well.

#18 Don’t Blush Baby (R.Smerdon / R.Maloney)
Racing well. Has claims.

Race 8

#2 King’s Command (L. & T.Corstens / L.Riordan)
Hit the line hard over a shorter trip. Will strip fitter here. Better suited this trip.

#5 Painte (D.K.Weir / B.Rawiller)
Hasn’t had a lot of luck this prep. Fourth run up, should be nearing peak fitness now.

#8 Cullingworth (D.K.Weir / J.M.Allen)
Overseas galloper having first start for Weir. Did win first up last prep. Keeping onside.

#9 Data Point (M.C.Kent / B.Mertens)
Not suited last couple. Can improve dramatically here.

#13 Simply Splashing (J.A.McLean / B.Allen)
Won well last start here. On relatively quick backup which has worked well in the past.

#14 Trogir (P.J.Stokes C.Caserta)
Terrific win here over shorter trip. Only has to hold rating here to be the one to beat.

#16 The Avenger (C.J.Waller / D.Oliver)
Third run in off short break. Stable has a habit of getting horses to improve this way of going. Should be competitive.

Race 9

#3 Nasdex (M.Ellerton & S.Zahra / S.M.Thornton)
Racing well over shorter trips. Maps well here. Should be able to handle this.

#6 Revolving Door (C.W.McDonald / M.J.Zahra)
Won well first up last prep before consecutively unlucky runs. Has trialled nicely. Should be competitive here.

#7 Ken’s Dream (D.K.Weir / J.M.Allen)
Went back from wide barrier last start over shorter trip before hitting the line hard. Drawn awkwardly again but has claims.

#8 Leodoro (M.C.Kent / B.Mertens)
Flashed home last start in quickest sectionals of the day. Will be strong late.

#9 Mogador (J.Cummings / C.Williams)
Another one who wasn’t suited last start over shorter trip, worked home well late, better suited out to this distance.

#12 Handsome Thief (D.K.Weir / D.M.Lane)
Has terrific strike rate. Failed first up last prep albeit on a very soft track. Should be competitive here.
