Gareth Phillips brings us today’s bet of the day from the Kensington track at Randwick.
Kensington Soft 7 with overcast skies and 50% chance of rain, obviously have to tread warily as the chances are high for a biased track, expectation is for “wider the better” but this can throw up some mysteries. For now I want the horses I am finding to be able to get to the outside, have jockeys that have ridden the track well this season, and proven on WET.
Holy Reign is “one of mine” from last prep where he has some strong provincial lines. Impressive recent trial win where versatility was shown as they led on him. Drawn the second widest barrier so the option to be wide is present and Sherry has been riding Kenso better than most this season (6/32 +8.3% POT).
No Escape… I’m not a fan of having two early bets in the same race, but I don’t want to see this price disappear and it’s a small outlay to “lock it in”. An 8yo chalking up start number 50 today, has twice won Saturday BM78’s on Heavy tracks and there was merit in his resuming run when in the worst part of the track here and ony beaten .7L by SNITZIFY who is currently $2.90 fav in this race. Also drawn to avoid the inside if need be. Mikayla in town is the reason the marketplace may oppose, but she’s been riding particularly well in the country as she nears the end of her apprenticeship.
