The Longshots Report is your guide to high-priced golfers that can earn us profits in some of the less popular markets without winning the Tournament – First Round Leader, Top 10, 20, Make Cut etc

Last week at the 3M Open we managed to get two out of our five longshots through to the weekend. Tarren took 7th and Gligic 16th, in what was an excellent weekend for both players.

This week, we’re off to Motor City, Fordtown, Big D or just plain old Detroit. It’s Rocket Mortgage Classic time. In 2021 Aussie Cam Davis got the chocolates at over 100/1.

You can also check out the Golf Insider’s full preview for the tournament right here.

Here’s our Rocket Mortgage Classic Hit Squad:

  • Chris Gotterup @ 111 :us:
  • Callum Tarren @ 95 :flag-england:
  • Kurt Kitayama @ 95 :us:
  • Chesson Hadley @ 141 :us:
  • Troy Merritt @ 85 :us:

And the details:

Chris Gotterup @ $111 :us:

Gotterup was in our Hit Squad 4 weeks ago for the John Deere. He didn’t let us down finishing 4th. The following week he started at the top of the board and MC at the Barbasol and then was 31st last week with a cold putter at the 3M Open. We’re getting a big price again this week…

Callum Tarren @ $95 :flag-england:

We’re happy to go back to the well with Tarren also. His 7th last week was a cracker and included an excellent 63 on Friday. That makes his run over the last 4 weeks to be 6-MC-22-7 with the Missed Cut at the Scottish Open as a final throw at the stumps to qualify for The Open.

Kurt Kitayama @ $95 :us:

Back on homesoil after a very fruitful trip to the UK where he finished 2nd at the Scottish and 72nd at The Open, but was 5th after the 1st Round. He’s had a mixed bag this season with his best results being 2nd in Mexico, 3rd and the Honda and 15th at the Wells Fargo. It all shows he can go low, and this week isn’t strong.

Chesson Hadley @ $141 :us:

Hadley is suiting up for his 6th tournament without a break, starting with the Travellers Championship in last June. His results since then are 5-10-68-31-10. That’s an excellent run of form.

He’s gained Strokes on Approach in 5 of his last 6 starts and that stat should be very important this week.

Troy Merritt @ $85 :us:

Lost this tournament last year in a playoff to Cam Davis and finished 8th at his previous visit (2020).Last week at the 3M Open he lost 1.5 strokes from putting which makes it his worst tournament for putting since back in November 2020. He’s normally an excellent putter, so some return to normality could see him high up the leaderboard again this week.
