The Longshots Report is your guide to high-priced golfers that can earn us profits in some of the less popular markets without winning the Tournament – First Round Leader, Top 10, 20, Make Cut etc

This year’s third major, the US OPEN, promises to be a great event with players returning from the LIV Invitational squaring off with their PGA cousins. You can also check out the Golf Insider’s full tournament preview right here.

As a tournament, it’s traditionally been a true test of golf – narrow fairways, deep rough, fast greens and generally tough conditions.

With that in mind, it’s not normally won by a longshot. So, maybe the Top 20 might be where the value lies…

This Week’s Longshots :bomb::bomb::bomb:

Aaron Wise @ $75

Played in three US Opens, most recently in 2019 for 35th. He’s having a very consistent season with just four MCs from 16 starts, including the first two tourneys of 2022. Has gained Strokes “On Approach” in seven of his last eight tournaments and finished Top 25 in five of his last eight tournaments, including 2nd at the Memorial just two weeks ago.

Davis Riley @ $85

Played in two US Opens with most recent the COVID-delayed 2020 for two MCs. This is his first full season on the PGA Tour and comes into this in hot form: 13-4-13-9-5 going back to Mexico and picking up most of his strokes “On Approach”, which should be advantageous this week.

Keegan Bradley @ $95

Best US Open result of 4th came back in 2014 and since then has missed the cut in five of seven attempts. A real mixed bag. This season he’s made 11 cuts from 12 starts and the form reads like this: 37-48-2-4-8-CUT-5-11-48-26-65-12. There is six Top 20s in that run which means this really has been his most consistent season.

Seamus Power @ $111

The first US Open for the much-improved Irishman. Having a great season with 11 Top 25 finishes from 21 starts and up to #41 in OWGR. Has finished 9th at the PGA and 27th at The Masters so can clearly handle the pressure of the Majors.

Luke List @ $181

Scored his maiden tour victory back in January at the Farmers and has been underwhelming since with five MCs in nine starts and no Top 20s. Can throw in a good R1 score occasionally but really needs his putter to work or he might be having a break on the weekend.

Victor Perez @ $351

Has played in the last two US Opens for two MCs. He’s another player who’s strength looks to be Strokes gained “On Approach”. Should be full of confidence with his last two tournament results a Win (Dutch Open) and a 3rd (European Open). This is a different level of form leading in compared to his other attempts.
