The Longshots Report is your guide to high-priced golfers that can earn us profits in some of the less popular markets without winning the Tournament – First Round Leader, Top 10, 20, Make Cut etc

Last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic we managed to get three of our longshots into the Top 20 – Troy Merritt (12th), Kurt Kitiyama (20th) and Callum Tarren (20th).

This week we’re off to Sedgefield Country Club, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. The field is headlined by some of the A- or B+ players – Lowry, Im, Zalatoris, Horschel top the market. So, this could be another decent week for the longshots…especially those on the cusp of the season-ending Fedex Cup Play-off’s which start next week.

You can also check out the Golf Insider’s full preview for the tournament right here.

Here’s our Wyndham Championship Hit Squad:

Harris English :us: $95 (Win), $4.50 (Top 20)

Callum Tarren :flag-england: $141 (Win), $4.50 (Top 20)

Tyler Duncan :us: $141 (Win), $5.40 (Top 20)

Chesson Hadley :us: $181 (Win), $6.50 (Top 20)

Matt Wallace :flag-england: $226 (Win), $6 (Top 20)

And the details:

Harris English :us: $95 (Win), $4.50 (Top 20)

Poor Harris is coming back from injury after a stellar 2021 where he won twice and finished 3rd at the US Open. He’s been driving the ball straight, putting well and gaining strokes around the green but not putting it all together on the scoreboard, yet. He’s played this tournament 7 times for 7 made cuts. We’re getting a good price to see if he can find some spark this week.

$95

Callum Tarren :flag-england: $141 (Win), $4.50 (Top 20)

We’re AGAIN happy to go back to the well with Tarren, making it the 3rd time in our report. He managed a tie for 20th last week, following on from his 7th at the 3M Open. That makes his run over the last 5 weeks to be 6-MC-22-7-20.

$141

Tyler Duncan :us: $141 (Win), $5.40 (Top 20)

Sets up well around this track with his accuracy off the tee and has made the cut at his last 3 attempts here. His best result was 13th in 2020. Has Top 20s this season at Barbasol, Schwab and RBC Heritage and a couple of those courses have some similarities here.

$141

Chesson Hadley :us: $181 (Win), $6.50 (Top 20)

Hadley missed the Cut last week at the Rocket Mortgage where his Approach game wasn’t up to scratch based on his previous 6 weeks. He’s played this tournament for the last 10 seasons and has made the last 4 cuts with 15th last year his best result. For a guy that’s been as high as #60 in the OWGR, we could see him put it all together this week.

$181

Matt Wallace  :flag-england:  $226 (Win), $6 (Top 20)

Was Top 10 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last week and needs a good week to secure his place in the final 125 for the FedEx playoffs. Has ranked as high as #25 in OWGR so definitely has the game to win but hasn’t won since 2018 after a prolific few years in Europe. Definitely a more speculative option but should be full of confidence after last week.
