2011 Stradbroke Handicap Preview

Always the highlight of the Winter Carnival the Stradbroke is a terrific Handicap that assembles a great field every year. We will have a look at four runners, each falls into a different category. The class runner Love Conquers All is a fantastic horse. He tries his heart out and is very talented to boot. His last run was in the Doomben 10,000 where he was nosed out by Beaded under WFA conditions and 0.9 lengths further back was Black Piranha. All three of them are going to improve from the run and he meets those 2.5kg better at the weights back to a Handicap here. The swooper The leader in this category goes to Woorim. The main key to his chances is the state of the track and as long as we are on nothing worse than a dead 4 this guy is a huge chance. He will go back throughout the run and will be asked to go rounding the turn. He possesses an explosive turn of foot which he showcased when he gobbled up the field last start. He will be better for that run and must be included. The stalker Here we are looking for a runner who is well weighted and who will be out of the speed battle but also prominent. Culminate is the one. She was 1.8 lengths sixth in this race last year and meets Black Piranha 1kg better. I thought her run last week was excellent and she will be at her top for this. Last week’s run was a Grp2 SWP for Mares, she drops 6.5kg on that run and will be in the finish. The blow out Listen Son is undefeated at Eagle Farm over 1400m from his four starts. He meets Woorim a little worse off at the weights from the last time they met but he has drawn barrier one and won’t have to go around a horse. Expect he will have an excellent run here in transit and the ground he saves in the end could be a real advantage.
