- Feature race for Belmont this Saturday
- Speed Map, Rated Prices and Runner Comments from a pro-punter
The highest quality race of the day this week at Belmont is the BM76+ Glenroy Chaff Handicap over 1600m. These aren’t group quality gallopers but they’re a reasonably reliable bunch who regularly meet each other in these kinds of contests, so the form lines and ratings usually stack up well.
As to the speed map, with the inside draw and aided by the claim I think DOUBLE DIGIT takes it up here, McNaught would be mad not to as there’s not much pace in the race. MISSILE LAUNCH and LORDHELPMERUN will press on too, JERAFT may get caught on a limb from the wide gate. Pace just moderate unless JERAFT takes off.
My market on the race –
And though I have LORDHELPMERUN on top, in the early markets he is under the odds and I wouldn’t be looking to back him. DOUBLE DIGIT has an enormous weight drop and could get a cheap lead, might prove hard to run down, but at this stage (with typically high early %’s in the market – thanks for that government taxes!) he’s not a bet either, though he might drift. There might be some value on race day in JERAFT potentially, who though I have mapped wide I think Parnham will go back on and swoop, maybe even BATTLE TORQUE who is enigmatic but who on his day can produce a big figure, and has Pike. Interesting race!
