Randwick Quaddie tips NSW racing picking winners, sydney racing results, Horse Racing Tips October 3, australian derby

The $2 million Australian Derby is considered one of Australia’s premier races for three-year-olds. Run over 2,400 metres, the race is one of the main features on the first day of The Championships, which is the highlight of the Sydney Autumn carnival.

MONTEFILIA put in a strong one-paced run from well back in the Rosehill Guineas. She gives every indication that she’ll stay 2400m, and she handles the soft. She will need luck if she gets too far back, but from this better draw she may settle up a bit closer, which helps.

SKY LAB delivered a nice run in the Rosehill Guineas when he took off a long way out. Probably doesn’t need to do that this time, and the 2400m looks okay.

LIONS ROAR didn’t have a great deal of room in the Rosehill Guineas. When he was clear he was maybe a bit one-paced, and Montefilia was better than him late. That’s a bit of a query but he was very good at Randwick the start before. The gate is some issue.

YALETOWN won the Tulloch, a key lead-in for this race over the last four years. He was strongly advantaged by a rail bias there, and he didn’t rate as well as the winners the last four years.

YOUNG WERTHER closed it out well against the pattern in the Tulloch. He looks good for this trip, placed third in the VRC Derby over 2500m and is building up to a peak here.

EXPLOSIVE JACK is a roughie with some chance. He went via the carpark at Bendigo and looks like he’ll stay the 2400m no problems on the back of that. The wide gate is an issue but he can run a race.

ROCKET SPADE won the NZ Derby two back at this trip on a soft track. That’s good form for this. He then won over a mile two weeks ago quite impressively. Nice horse and has some claims.

KHOEKHOE disappointed in the Guineas. He had his chance on pace and maybe he was a bit flat second-up? He showed in the Spring that he has good ability and ran well resuming at Caulfield. Query.
