Quaddie tips for Caulfield
The track should play OK but everyone knows that normally you don’t want to be too far from the speed. Should be a Good 4 depending on the weather today. There’s some rain on the radar but most of it should miss Caulfield.
Race 6 (1100m – Grp 3)
#2 Veranillo (Dunn / Cummings)
Resumes. Sydney colt who ran 2nd to Slipper winner She Will Reign early last prep.
#4 Jukebox (Williams / Maher)
Unbeaten colt who has trialled up nicely for this. Was well fancied for Blue Diamond before going amiss.
#5 Kobayshi (Thompson / Corstens)
Won past two here over 1200m as a late 2yo. Has claims but looks short enough at current odds.
#6 Ducimus (Callow / Hawkes)
Wasn’t suited 1st up on a wet track at Morphettville. Produced peak figure at Flemington 2nd up last prep.
#7 Lone Eagle (Oliver / Price)
Returns off short break. Produced peak figure last start at this track.
#8 Cliff’s Edge (Nolen / Weir)
Another resumer. Ran well 1st up at Ballarat then produced a big figure winning at Sandown 2nd up.
#13 Poseidon’s Pool (Lane / Weir)
Undefeated colt who won well in Adelaide running fast time. Gets stables preferred jockey.
Race 7 (1400m – Grp 2)
#2 Hartnell (Williams / Cummings)
Has chased Winx first up last three campaigns, running well without winning. Can win based of the figures from his last 1st up run. Should roll forward from the barrier and 1400m should suit.
#3 Black Heart Bart (Rawiller / Weir)
Runs well fresh but does improve dramatically 2nd up. Perfect 4/4 record this track and trip. Also maps well.
Race 8 (1200m – Listed)
#1 Vega Magic (Oliver / Hayes & Dabernig)
At 1st start for new stable won the G1 Goodwood in Adelaide. Returns here off 3 month break and should be able to run to that figure.
#6 Lord Da Vinci (Pires / Brunton)
Tassie horse who has good winning record. Won well 1st up at the Valley. Given a short let-up since. Drawn well.
#7 Santa Ana Lane (Bayliss / L&A Freedman)
Enigmatic. Has plenty of ability but often finds trouble. Trials look good and was well fancied the other week before the meeting was abandoned. Ran close-up behind Vega Magic in Goodwood and meets it significantly better at the weights.
Race 9 (1400m – BM 84)
#3 Here To There (Brown / Maher)
Consistent horse who generally returns his figure. Should race handy from inside barrier. Will be thereabouts.
#6 Divine Mr Artie (Caserta / McCarthy)
Had no luck last start over this trip. Just needs luck in running to be competitive here.
#14 Ozi Choice (Allen / Weir)
Ran well last start 3rd up. Stays at the same trip and should be ready to run to best.
#15 Portman (Williams / O’Brien)
Ran well at first two starts this prep then slightly disappointing last start. Does get tongue tie on and Craig Williams gets back on. Can return to best here.
#16 Tahanee (Rawiller / Weir)
Won 5/8 in Argentina before going to Dubai earlier this year. Timeform rating suggests it should be competitive here. Has trialled nicely.
As you can see we’ve got a fantastic card to get stuck into at Caulfield tomorrow highlighted by Hartnell’s return in the Group 2 PB Lawrence Stakes and two enticing Group 3’s.
