COLETTE was back at her top first-up winning the Apollo, a race that’s a good lead-in for this one traditionally. She maps to get every possible chance again here and she loves Randwick. She’s the one to beat for me. The query is if Randwick doesn’t get any rain. If the track got too firm she’d be less suited, but so long as it’s in the Soft 5 range or worse, she’s hard to beat.

VERRY ELLEEGANT was the champion mare of the Spring, whose excellent campaign culminated in a Caulfield Cup victory rating116. She was just fair resuming, but was likely not fit and will be improving off that here. From the good draw she’ll rail up and switch out to try to run them down. Query is the soft pace at this trip, which isn’t really her thing. But she’s the class horse of the race.

KOLDING is third-up and set to peak, maps ideally on pace and loves it here. Ticks a lot of boxes. Queries? He hasn’t peaked since November 2019, and his two wins last spring were two lengths off that figure in 2019. Still, he has come back close to those 2020 figures in two runs back and surely improves now third-up. He has Bowman on board and is right in it.

MASTER OF WINE  looks a little bit of overs, especially if it rains quite a bit. He’s first-up, and has gone well first-up in the past… two preps ago winning rating 114 (his top) first-up, then holding that to win second-up too. In this small field he won’t be too far away and he’ll run on hard. Could be worth a nibble.

FUNSTAR is a good mare who was a little disappointing resuming, but will be fitter for that. Up to this trip is good. Two preps back she won the Phar Lap second-up, albeit on the heavy, and I have her mapping well on pace here. Will go well.
