Chipping Norton Stakes 2021: Alfie’s preview
Track I’m writing this report on Thursday night, and I’m working off a heavy track. We can only really assume a fair track at this stage, but on a Heavy track late in the day, they may be looking at coming wide in the straight… keep an eye the pattern throughout the day.
Speed Looks like being low speed. Maximal should be near the lead with Kolding on speed as well. Verry Elleegant and Colette should settle midfield.

Think It Over [$4.40] is becoming a very consistent horse. If it was dry I would be more confident with him. We hav no real figures in the wet, he hasn’t had the opportunity on a wet track whilst in this form.
“There’s no complications with him so it does make you more confident going into a race.”
Nash Rawiller concedes there’s a heavy track query around Think It Over in the G1 Chipping Norton at Randwick, but won’t underestimate him.📸@Bradley_Photos

Kolding [$61] would only have a chance on a dry track
Top Ranked [$10] is an English import that has won a Group 3 in the the UK on a Heavy 8. First-up here, place chance at best.
Mount Popa [$67] is looking for longer and drier.
Maximal [$34] would have to improve a long way to be in with any chance here.
Verry Elleegant [$2.80] was disappointing last start and a long way off her peak figure. She’ll handle the wet, but will certainly need to improve second-up.
Verry Elleegant $3 favourite in the Chipping Norton, am I missing something as I have the mare around the $5 mark in my market ?

Colette [$3.40] loves the wet and ran on strong last start. She has a figure to win if Verry Elleegant isn’t at her best, and coming down wide late may be a good play.
Montefilia [$26] is first-up and would prefer slightly longer. The wet is not a concern however.
Hungry Heart [$34] is probably looking to get to the 2400 metre distance.
Shes Ideel [$51], Duais [$51], Stockman [$26] and Angel Of Truth [$51] are not up to this level.
Betting approach I have Verry Elleegant slightly ahead of Colette. But I think the price is too short for Verry Elleegant and would want $4.50 plus. Colette I would be looking at $5.20 plus. Think it Over has been running well but wet may stop it’s progress here. So keep an eye on what the market does on raceday for opportunities.
