FUNSTAR is the one to beat. She was good in the Chipping Norton with a close up fourth, and goes better again on this anticipated soft track. She can drop into a good spot from the gate, goes well at this trip and on the wet… she’s ticking a lot of boxes here.

AVILIUS is getting long in the tooth but he won’t know himself on this (anticipated) very soft track. That’s his go, probably even moreso now as an older horse. He loves Rosehill too. He performed well first-up in the Chipping Norton and that alone makes him a leading chance here.

CASCADIAN is my value bet in the race. He was good resuming on the drier track, closing it out well at Newcastle. He goes better again on the wet and will love the soft track here. With okay tempo he’ll get his chance to run on into the finish. Over the odds for me.

KOLDING has been good in all three runs back so far this prep. He’s working up to his top. He can get a nice run on pace though will probably just need to get away from the rail, which may not be the best place to be. He handles soft and dry and this trip is good. Goes well.

DREAMFORCE won this race last year but hasn’t really found form since. Put in an okay effort resuming though, and should get his chance on the pace. None of his figures in the five runs since last year’s race would win this one, but he did 117 there and that would have him right in it. Might get to a silly price

GEM SONG had a nice win coming from the back at Newcastle and he has shown that he handles soft tracks, too. The extra 100 metres suits him and a bit of pace in front does too. He’s in form and is racing well. A chance.

JUNIPAL is first up for 119 days. A bit of a strange one but he has raced well early in his prep in the past, while not specifically going well first-up. He’s a chance at his top and does handle soft.

MIZZY has been a very consistent horse this prep and is in good form. She’s won on a Soft 7 but the track speed wasn’t that bad that day. There’s some query on a genuine heavy but she’s in form and racing and rating well.
