By guest writer Todd Burmester Moonee Valley on Saturday sees some very speedy sprinters set to fly over the 1000m. One thing is for sure, they will go pretty quickly in this race. It’s not surprise to see Peter Moody with the favourite Kulgrinda. Her win first up in Adelaide was pretty good, and I would say she is sure to be hard to beat here. The scratching of Warm Love possibly makes its job easier. As is the case always with Moody runners, she’s been given time to reach her potential, and now steps up a grade, but I think she’s ready for it. Also in her favour is that she’s a winner at the track. There certainly are other chances in the race however. The interesting runner is Wilander, which showed pace first up from a long break last start, but knocked up towards the end. There is sure to be improvement in him, but I’d rather see him win a race before I come into him as a betting proposition. Definitely Ready was a good run last start, but in all honesty, this horse can be a bit weak at the end of its races, and isn’t the one I want to be on here. Lone Rock could be a horse on the way up, and does appeal each way at around about the $10 mark, whether its looking for slightly further than the 1000m might be the question mark. The others in the field do seem to be outclassed here if you ask me. Overall, the one that has the runs on the board and that I keep coming back to is Kulgrinda. We won’t get flash odds, but she does have a number of things going for her here off the inside gate. Either back it straight out, or take it in the quinella with Lone Rock if you are looking for a little more value.
