Mark Rhoden brings you his Randwick Quaddie tips for this weekend’s meeting. He’s gone skinny in the opening leg before beefing up the remaining legs.
Race 6 – Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m)
Selections: 2, 9
Kaepernick (2) is going really well with his runs spaced. His last two have been terrific and although he’ll get back as usual, expect him to hit the line hard under J McDonald. Cradle Mountain (9) is foolproof on-pacer who is flying this preparation. Well placed on the limit weight here and ready for the step up to this class.
Race 7 – Villiers Stakes (1600m)
Selections: 5, 7, 11, 13, 14
My Nordic Hero (5) hasn’t put a foot wrong this time in. Getting up in the weights now but will be competitive again. Interlocuter (7) got the job done in the Goulburn Cup last time and drawn to run a race with McDonald on here. Goodfella (11) put in a very tough effort after a wide run last time. Gets the services of a good rider of on-pacers here and looks a nice chance at odds. Sky Boy (13) is in outstanding form. He’s dropping in distance and surely must come back off his peak at some point but can’t be left out. Gaulois (14) looked home for all money last time, but should be set to peak third-up here. Very nicely weighted and drawn to get a good run.
Race 8 – Total Construction Handicap (1200m)
Selections: 4, 9, 13, 15
Roman Son (4) produced an outstanding run first up. Tempo may be a problem again but hard to leave out. Fierce Impact (9) will need some luck from the gate but looks well placed in this back to 1600m. Arraignment (13) is up to 1600m here and looks like getting an easy time in front again, have to include. Organza (15) won well after getting a perfect run last time. Drawn to get every chance again and looks nicely weighted here.
Race 9 – Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400m)
Selections: 4, 7, 9, 10, 14
Kool Vinnie (4) had an excellent win last start. The jockey change is a concern here but should be included. Mr Tickets (7) should race on pace for the in-form jockey, expect improvement. Regent (9) had a strong win in weaker grade last start, any rain would be a plus. Antah (10) had a big win in weaker grade at first run for this stable. McDonald booked for his Sydney debut and the forecast rain won’t hurt him. Campari (14) was very ordinary last start but a good winner at this track and distance before that, must include.
Over $13,500 profit across Sydney metro and provincial race meetings since September 2017.
