NSW Winners analyst Mark Rhoden brings you his Randwick Quaddie tips for Saturday.
Race 6: TAB.com.au Handicap (1100m)
Selections: 2, 6, 7, 8
Malahat (2) is drawn the outside but with good speed in the race should be able to slot in okay, and a fast run 1100m should suit him first up. Scallopini (6) trialled nicely in preparation for this and must respect this trainer’s record in Sydney. Taniko (7) continues to race well. Not a great price in early markets but will be competitive again. Sei Stella (8) as failed once at 1100m but that was at the end of a preparation. She’s the fastest horse here and if she sees the trip out is the one to beat.
Race 7: Carrington Stakes (1400m)
Selections: 1, 4, 11
Endless Drama (1) ran third in this race first up last year and has trialled very well, a definite chance if ready. Flow (4) had no luck at all in Brisbane first up and has trialled well since. Will just need a touch of luck from the gate. Penske (11) has been kept fresh since an excellent first-up win in weaker grade. Will make his own luck on the pace and looks a great chance on the limit weight.
Race 8: #theraces Handicap (1400m)
Selections: 7, 8, 9, 10
Reckless Choice (7) didn’t have much room first up on Magic Millions day. Maps well here and the stable go well when they come to Sydney. Sondelon (8) won first up in his only preparation. Has had a long break but is trialling nicely. Super Star Bob (9) was unsuited last start and was very good at this track and trip two starts back, should improve. Dealmaker (10) raced well in Group company last spring. Well placed in this class but may get back here.
Race 9: Rise Up At The Championships Handicap (1600m)
Selections: 1, 6, 8, 16
The big weight increase for Gresham (1) shouldn’t worry him back to this class. Will need some luck from the gate but has a chance. Organza (6) looked home for all money (including ours) last start. Will get a good run for Avdulla here and although the early price isn’t great she deserves to be top pick. New Universe (8) has become a non-winner but is drawn to get every chance with Bowman here, worth including at the price. Eagle Bay (16) got to line well first-up, should be fitter and has a chance at odds with no weight.
