Randwick Quaddie Preview

Winx is back! The great mare will grace the turf at Randwick as she looks to win for a record 26th straight time.

NSW Winners expert Mark Rhoden has taken her one-out in the first leg, but which other runners is he including in his Randwick Quaddie tips?

Race 6 – Winx Stakes (1400m)

Selections: 10Winx (10) one-out might be the “value” way to go here, believe it or not.  A lot will take Kementari as insurance in their quaddie, but the fact remains he’d have to absolutely fly and she’d have to have a real off-day to be beaten.

Race 7 – Nexon Show County Quality (1200m)

Selections: 1, 3, 7

Le Romain (1) is the clear standout for class here. No flash price but can’t be risked. Siege Of Quebec (7) has always been a bit of a “hype horse” but with the big weight pull on the favourite does appear the logical danger. Boss Lane (3) could be over the hill now, but his best Randwick 1200m form would give him a chance in this and he’s worth including at big odds.

Race 8 – Toy Show Quality (1300m)

Selections: 1, 3, 4, 8

Egyptian Symbol (1) should never have been allowed to run first-up. Very well placed in this class and should get the perfect run from the inside draw. Insensata (8) would have my top pick if not for the jockey change here. Her ability to sprint off a slow pace still gives her a good chance in this. Zestful (3) was dreadful in the Ramornie first-up but her Randwick record is outstanding – can improve. Payroll’s (4) fresh form is generally good and interesting to see James McDonald booked. Can run a race here.

Race 9 – Nicholas Moraitas Handicap (1400m)

Selections: 1, 5, 7, 9, 13

Shogun Sun (9) had an outstanding win in Brisbane last start, and a repeat of that would make him very hard to beat here. Milseain (13) is a classy ex-New Zealand mare who won at 1400m on debut in her only preparation. Big watch here. Godolphin import Best Of Days (1) is trialling well and certainly has the class to win this first-up, although he’ll be better over further. The Pinnacle (7) has drawn badly here, but her fresh record and big price make her worth including. Kaonic (5) is an ordinary price in the early market but he is a genuine chance and is hard to leave out completely.
