Time flies! The Spring Racing Carnival is on our doorstep, and Melbourne Cup 2020 is actually not far away…
This year presents a very interesting puzzle for punters. We’re in unprecedented times due to COVID-19, which will have a big impact on the international horses travelling to Australia for Melbourne Cup 2020.
It’s been a very long time since we’ve seen a Melbourne Cup made up mostly of Aussie and Kiwi horses. Will that be the case in 2020 or will we still see an influx of international raiders trying to take out or great race? On this page you’ll be able to stay up to date with all the horses set for Melbourne Cup 2020.
Odds displayed are from Australia’s favourite bookmaker, TopSport (odds updated 24th September).

Melbourne Cup 2020: The Contenders
Surprise Baby: currently $8 with TopSport
Won the Group 3 Bart Cummings in the lead-up to the 2019 Melbourne Cup, before running a very credible fifth placing in the great race. Genuine stayer who can improve on that in 2020. Ran a solid second on return in the Feehan Stakes at Moonee Valley.
Russian Camelot: currently $8.50 with TopSport
Victorian trainer Danny O’Brien is looking to go back-to-back after last year’s triumph of Vow And Declare, and he might just have the horse to do it. A superb win in the South Australian Derby catapulted Russian Camelot to the upper reaches of the Melbourne Cup 2020 market. Returned with a huge run to finish second in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes.
