Newmarket Handicap 2021: Key runners

ZOUTORI is racing consistently, but it’s hard to see him winning with this weight.

ELITE STREET pulled up with EIPH (exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage) when beaten twelve lengths. He’s trialled well since but it’s hard to see him making a full turnaround straight away

IMAGING ran well first-up over 1400m. He comes back in trip here but is well found at the weight.

CELEBRITY QUEEN hit the line well in the Oakleigh Plate on inferior ground. She was very strong through the line and better suited here at 1200m.

DALASAN is generally better over further, but has sprinted well fresh previously. Hence this might be a target.

FLIT is an inconsistent mare who was well beaten when resuming. She’ll need to run better than ever to win this.

STANDOUT made ground late when well beaten in the Oakleigh Plate. He’s better suited here out to 1200m. Blinkers first time, rough chance.

BOLD STAR would prefer it back at 1100m.

BROOKLYN HUSTLE was unlucky in the Oakleigh Plate. Roughie with a chance.

INDIAN PACIFIC is on the quick back-up and looks the leader here. Another roughie with a chance.

PROPHET’S THUMB has a couple of things against her, namely the inside barrier and the 1200m.

SEPTEMBER RUN won the Coolmore over the track and distance in the Spring. She put in a super effort in the Lightning when she ran best 800/600/400/200 sectionals of the day to finish behind Nature Strip. This looks a target… she’s the horse to beat.

SIRIUS SUSPECT has won his past two. He won the Standish last start, but his best runs have been in moderate tempo races. It’s a big rise here to Group 1 class.

PRAGUE ran on nicely first-up. He’s run well down the straight previously. Roughie with claims.

SWATS THAT ran well in the Lightning, but was well beaten by September Run. Not sure she can turn that around here.

Verdict: September Run is very clearly on top for me and she’s $2.15 with TopSport.
I’d want at least $3 to get involved. Swats That is best of the rest, but I have the rest of the field in double figures.
