Race 7 – Caulfield Stakes (2000m)

Selections: 2, 5, 7, 9, 10

Gailo Chop (2) is third-up on a long prep but has winning ways. Won this two years ago. Could strip fitter here, maps to find the front. Avilius (5) is a high-quality horse which has a good record at this distance. Backmarker but will be strong late. Homesman (7) put in a good effort first-up on the pace, then was forced to make up too much ground last start before peaking late. Gets a great run here. Dream Castle (9) is a Godolphin horse which won its first three starts last prep in Dubai. Has Timeform rating of 118 which is WFA competitive here. Danceteria (10) has raced in several countries. Good record at this trip. Timeform rating last start of 117.

Race 8 – Caulfield Guineas (1600m)

Selections: 2, 3, 5

Dalasan (2) steps to the trip for the first time, but extremely strong late last start under weaker rider. Can improve her and gets Bowman. Drawn wide but can overcome barrier quickly. Alligator Blood (3) put in a solid effort last start over 1400 when dictating race on pace. Not sure can improve off that. Super Seth (5) always looked like he would get the trip. Knocked out last start but ran top sectionals. Can settle closer from better draw here.

Race 9 – Toorak Handicap (1600m)

Selections: 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14, 17

Widgee Turf (4) is an honest galloper who is drawn to sit midfiled here and will be strong late Night’s Watch (5) was very unlcuky first-up when held up in the straight. Made good ground last start before peaking late. Third-up here, looks a target race. Sikandarabad’s (6) first two runs this prep at WFA were great. Back to handicap conditions here and drawn well. Amphitrite (10) got too far back last start. Was terrific first-up. Solid record this distance, gets blinkers on, gets cheap run from inside draw. Age Of Chivalry (11) has been terrific this prep. Steps to 1600m first time but no reason can’t run it. Fierce Impact (12) ran on well first-up in Sydney behind the Epsom winner. Will be strong late. Princess Jenni (14) steps out of mares class but did win at this track and distance in autumn. Solid effort last start, can improve. Dyslexic (17) has had three runs back. All were solid. Steps to mile, drawn out but has gate speed to nullify it.

Race 10 – Schillaci Stakes (1100m)

Selections: 1, 2, 3, 8

Ball Of Muscle (1) follows a similar pattern to last year. Looks to get an easy lead here. Can bounce back to first-up rating. Trekking (2) wasn’t suited first-up and had to get too far back at the 1000m. Ran on well, will be strong here late. The Bostonian (3) also got too far back over 1000m. Extra distance suits, will be getting home hard. Bons Away (8)          was the best of the closers over the 1000m. Will be strong here late.
