Moonee Valley Quaddie August 24, 2019 where Trev says it’s fairly open.
- Trevor Lawson delivers his full Moonee Valley quaddie, plus runner notes
- First leg: Race 6, 3:25pm local time
- Selections: 3,4,6,7,9,10 / 1,2,3,6,8,10 / 8,9,11 / 4,6,8,12,13
Race 6 – Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap (1519m)
Selections: 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10
VINLAND (3) won well the other day at Flemington. The inside barrier is a slight concern but he’s a chance in an even race. KEMONO (4) didn’t handle the soft track at Flemington. He should get a better track here. He’s been gelded since last prep and gets the blinkers on again – could be a big improver. NEW UNIVERSE (6) won well here two starts back, then had not much luck when a significant drifter next up. Well graded here. ROMANCER (7) ran well last start over 1400m. He’ll get a good run here which should help chances in an even race. MOSH MUSIC (9) resumes here. She’s better over further but has winning ways. She’s trialled impressively leading into this and will run well if she’s forward enough. STRIKE FORCE (10) returned to somewhere near his best form last start. He’s won here in the past and maps to lead which should be an advantage.
Race 7 – McMahon’s Dairy McKenzie Stakes (1200m)
Selections: 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 10
HIGHTAIL (1) resumes here. He ran well in summer then charged home last start before a spell. Will get back here but if the pace is on, he’ll be running on. HAWKER HURRICANE (2) ran well in a Blue Diamond lead-up and then had not much luck in the Blue Diamond and Sires Produce. He’s been gelded since. Will be strong late. CONDO’S EXPRESS (3) was an impressive winner here when the winkers went on. The inside draw is a slight negative, but he’ll be hard to beat with a good ride. SKIDDAW (6) came through the same race as Condo’s Express and meets him slightly better at the weights. Drawn out slightly here but has a chance at odds. EXETER (8) ran okay over his first two runs, then was an impressive winner at Sale in a good time. Trialled impressively for this and looks a likely improver from autumn. THE LIFELINE (10) led all the way the other day. Form out of that race has been solid, with a winner at Sandown this week coming out of it. Will be on the pace here.
Race 8 – Ranvet Handicap (1200m)
Selections: 8, 9, 11
TERBIUM (8) won his first four starts before flopping in Adelaide. I’ve rated him just off his best here. The wide draw could be a concern but he has a good chance. USAIN BOWLER (9) got home hard here last start from an awkward draw. Still looks on the way up, can improve. TAVISAN (11) put in a terrific run when caught wide early last start. Maps to get a better run here and will be hard to hold out.
Race 9 – MSC Signs Handicap (2040m)
Selections: 4, 6, 8, 12, 13,
AL GALAYEL (4) ran on well last start and looks ready to fire. Only concern will be if there’s a bias toward the inside. INVERLOCH (6) doesn’t quite have the class of others but could find the front, which may be an advantage late in the day. KENTUCKY BREEZE (8) didn’t have much luck the other day, getting left in front a bit early. Jury is out whether it runs the trip but maps well and should get every chance. CHAROSSA (12) was a super winner at Flemington last start, sitting wide off a solid speed. That was a spike rating but if he can hold here, will be very hard to hold out. TAVIRUN (13) has won his past three. Back in trip here and has had 28 days off, but he has residual fitness and will roll forward. Hard to beat.
