Flemington Quaddie preview learn to bet

Melbourne racing pro-punter Trevor Lawson brings you his Flemington Quaddie tips ahead of a big day of racing, featuring the Winter Championship Final.

Race 6 – The Mahogany Challenge Final (2500m)

Selections: 1, 2, 7, 9, 10

Dogmatic (1) had a terrific win three runs back producing a peak figure. Has regressed over the past two, but got home hard last week. Can bounce back out to this trip. Not A Single Cent (2) was beaten not far in the Queensland Derby. No luck in Sydney last start. Had solid grounding for this trip. El Vincitore (7) charged home last start. Has had a solid prep and looks suited out to this trip. Wealthy Wolf (9) looks a natural stayer. Worked home well at this distance range last start and will be getting home strong. Reflect The Stars (10) has had a solid base for this trip. Past two have been good and Oliver goes on.

Race 7 – All Victorian Sprint Series Final (1200m)

Selections: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Malibu Style (2) is honest type who has run well down the straight in the past. Will be thereabouts. Milwaukee (3) also has a good record down the straight. Gets Oliver, all is positive. Holy Blade (4) returned well for new trainer. Racing consistently, only has to hold rating here. Crown Fontein (5) put in a terrific effort on the pace at Swan Hill. Ran honestly over 1400m, but is better suited here back to 1200m. Invincible Al (6) has had no luck over the past couple with apprentice jockeys on. Gets Williams on here and could be a big improver. Smart Coupe’s (7) three runs back this prep have all been solid. Has run well in the past down the straight. Should get preferred cover from barrier, likely improver. Jorda (8) has raced well down the straight in the past, albeit some time back. Resumes here and will get home late. Halvorsen (9) ran honestly when fresh two starts ago. Struggled a little in the soft ground last start. Will give them a start and needs the speed on.

Race 8 – VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final (1600m)

Selections: 1, 2, 4, 10

Mr Marathon Man (1) had a terrific win at third start in Australia when charging home from the back. Had to make all the running himself to get into the race. Race has a similar profile here, but is up to it. Hellova Street (2) looked slightly disappointing when resuming but was drawn inside with an inexperienced jockey. Steps to 1600m here and Maskiell has a good record on the horse. Will be in it for a long way. Waging War (4) put in a terrific effort on the pace behind Mr Marathon Man last start. Drawn wide but should roll forward. Williams on, good record this trip. Romancer (10) has had two runs back for new trainer and both have been good. Has done better figures in past, and can improve here third-up out in trip.

Race 9 – Rivette Series Final (1600m)

Selections: 1, 8

Sure Knee (1) is racing well. Terrific run here three starts ago, and settled better here two starts ago with a good win. The horse to beat. Shamal Lass (8) showed a terrific effort at Donald three runs back, running an exceptional time. Not a lot went right next start, before winning in a canter last start – albeit on a heavy track. Looks a progressive filly.
