• Caulfield quaddie tips and notes from pro punter Trevor Lawson

Race 6 – Ladbrokes $101 Odds Handicap (2000m)

Selections: 1, 3, 7

Junipal (1) steps to 2000m for the first time, but is fourth-up here and career-best run was 1800m in the spring when good thing beaten. Tavirun (3) produced big spike figure last start, winning easily at this track and distance. Doesn’t have to run anywhere near that figure to be competitive here. Doroza (7) is a promising staying type who resumes off a short let-up. Stable has knack of getting them fit.

Race 7 – Ladbrokes Back Yourself Handicap (1200m)

Selections 1, 2, 3, 9, 12, 13

Tell Me (1) had excuses last start. Drawn well here, can improve off that run. Golden Halo (2) has run well its past two starts. Drawn out which may not be a negative late in the day. Will be charging home. Voila (3) got home hard last start. Will be charging home again. Gododdin (9) won well first-up after long spell. Caught off track second-up, has had a feshen-up and jumped out nicely for this. Sweet Jazz (12) got too far back first-up then soolid run second-up. Will be thereabouts. Pinyin (13) ran well two starts back. Worked home okay last start. Back to 1200m here which looks to suit better.

Race 8 – Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m)

Selections: 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 13, 14

Jungle Edge (1) is drawn out here which looks an advantage. Ran well two starts ago when let bowl along in front. The wetter the better. Malibu Style (2) ran well behind Jungle Edge two starts ago. Returned to best down the straight last start on the quick back-up. Will be thereabouts. Bandipur (3) is a consistent type who races well here. Had a short break and returns for new trainer. Hard Empire (7) has good ratings around this distance. Never looked likely last start when couldn’t get to right spot. Drawn out which looks a positive. Heart Conquered (9) is racing well on wetter ground, but has performed on drier surfaces. Solid claims here. Soothing (13) resumes here. Ran well here in the spring without much luck. Resumes off lengthy spell. Doesn’t have to run to best to be competitive here. Crack The Code (14) is a three-year-old filly who resumes here. Good bank of ratings and gets preferred ground.

Race 9 – Ladbrokes Multiverse Handicap (1700m)

Selections: 3, 9

Bedford (3) walked in last start over 1800m. Has run well at this track before. Doesn’t have to run anywhere near last start to be competitive here. Shrouded In Mist (9) had a nice win two starts back when jock dominated race. Got back too far last start. Can sit closer from the better draw here.
