Race 6 – Murray Cox Handicap (1600m)

Selections: 1, 2, 3, 7, 9

PHAISTOS (1) is on the quick back-up after winning last week in Sydney. Past three runs have been terrific. MR EXCLUSIVE (2) has been up for a while but is in terrific form. No reason why he can’t be competitive again. HOWLOWCANYOUGO (3) is an undefeated gelding who’s improved his rating every run and looks to still be on the rise. COLLECTABLE (7) ran well last start. Previous runs were solid and will be thereabouts. KILLAVALLY (9) was an impressive winner on debut, albeit on the Ballarat Synthetic. Won by a space and the form out of the race has been terrific. Query is the transfer to turf, but could be a nice horse.

Race 7 – Trainers’ Trust Handicap (1200m)

Selections: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8

SYLVIA’S MOTHER (1) is having her first start down the straight. Got him hard last start over 1100m. Slight query at the 1200m. TELL ME (2) ad no luck last start when held up in the run. Can improve dramatically here with luck. GODODDIN (3) is on the quick back-up from winning at Caulfield last week. Only has to hold rating to be competitive.  MY PENDANT (4) is fresh here. Untried down the straight but looked a progressive filly when last in work. PINYIN (6) had no luck last week when held up in the straight.  On the quick back-up and Williams on, which look positives. JAY JAY D’AR (8) didn’t have a lot of luck last start. Has run okay down the straight before. Dropping significantly in weight.

Race 8 – VRC Recognition Handicap (1600m)

Selections: 3, 7

REYKJAVIK (3) had a super win in the Winter Championship at second Victorian start. Looks a promising type. NEW UNIVERSE (7) has had no luck at past three runs. Steps back out to right trip here and can settle closer from better draw. Williams goes on. All positive.

Race 9 – Stable Staff Recognition Handicap (1000m)

Selections: 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 13

ALL OVER BOSANOVA (1) resumes off a short break. Ran okay at first start for new trainer, resumes here with senior jock on. CRACK THE CODE (2) is a three-year-old filly who ran well over summer. Not sure is that well graded here. ROCKET TOMMY (4) returned to some kind of form at last start at the Swan Hill carnival. Good record down the straight. PREZADO (7) had no luck last start when held up late. Has run well down the straight in the past. Has some sort of claim. WAGNER (9) comes down from Sydney. No luck last start when it got too far back. Willaims on here, has hopes in wide-open race. USAIN BOWLER (11) put in a super performance winning down the straight pre-Christmas. Doubt can repeat that but will be competitive on other runs anyway. Stable is in good form. GIBBON (13) is a backmarker who’s had no luck at first two runs. Has been okay down straight before, just needs the speed on to get home hard.
