Race 7: Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m)
Winx (7) is, yet again, a class above her rivals. Going any wider is a waste of money and / or percentage.
Race 8: Sydney Cup (3200m)
Selections: 10, 14, 15
Dubhe (10) is a young, improving stayer who looks to have beaten the handicapper – the perfect Charlie Appleby profile, and clearly the one to beat. Gallic Chieftain (14) was strong to the line in the Chairman’s last week and is peaking at the right time. Well weighted and drawn for a good run. Very good effort from Rondinella (15) at WFA in the Tancred, is drawn to get a soft run and has a chance.
Race 9: Legacy Stakes (1600m)
Selections: 1, 2, 16, 18
Alizee (1) virtually took no part in the Doncaster. Stable have no concerns about backing her up in this and she’s well placed under the WFA conditions. Prompt Response (2) will put herself in the race and is suited back to fillies and mares grade. Has a chance. Amphritite (16) peaked fourth-up at 1600m last preparation, Has a great chance if she follows that pattern this time in. Nakeeta Jane (18) is a good filly suited back to 1600m. Will need some luck from the gate but has a chance.
Race 10: Sapphire Stakes (1200m)
Selections: 3, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12
I Am Excited (3) worked home nicely in the Galaxy and won third-up last preparation. Drawn for a good run. Great run from Spright (5) in the William Reid. Her racing style is always against her but she’s a big chance if she gets luck. Winter Bride (6) had a solid first-up win and is a chance again if she gets a crack at them from her inside draw. Resin (10) worked in the run last start, loves the Randwick 1200m and should get a better run this time. Savatiano (11) has been freshened. Has a big win at this track and trip to her name and can win on her best form. Manicure (12) is much better suited here on a drier track at 1200m. Good chance.
