BARGAIN had a month off before a nice closing run at Doomben over the 2000m last time, and that should have topped her off nicely for fitness here. I think she can improve again and go very well here. She gets back but from that gate she might not get as far back as I map, and up to the 2200m now she should close it out really strongly. A bet for me.

CHARMS STAR  is an ex-NZ horse having her second start for Waller, and is sure to be improved by the first-up run. She ought it out well and has already shown form at 2400m, so the 2200m should be right up her alley. Might go around a bit of overs for me. Should get a good run from the gate.

MEDIA AWARD had a strong win in the Australasian Oaks last time out, on the back of two good wins in Victoria. That has been a good formline for this in past years and she is well and truly not over the top this prep yet. Maps to get a very good run here too.

GRACE AND HARMONY didn’t have much luck last time out at Doomben. Her previous form was pretty solid, and with JMac on she should get a very good run here. That being said she probably needs to rate a bit higher than she has been. But it’s not certain we’ve seen her top yet either.

ONLY WORDS had a good win at Doomben two back, going 108. That’s a figure that puts her right in this race. I map her getting in, but she’s not certain to do that from the gate. So she could have some issues. Williams on again though a plus.

DUAIS In good form in Sydney. Wondering if this is an after the fact tilt at the stumps though as she went for the AJC Oaks and ran a game second, and has had 7 weeks off since then. That said, she is the class filly of the race. However, another knock for me is that she has drawn wide. She’ll likely have to give them a big start. Happy to be against her.

SIGNORA NERA has been closing it out well over her last couple of starts. As such, the 2200m should be up her alley. She does need a bit more than she’s been doing – she needs a new peak here. Not saying she can’t, but that’s her query.
