Rosehill Review – July 16th 2016

By: Mark Haywood

1st MORTON’S FORK – Brenton Avdulla
2nd HARPER’S CHOICE – Tim Clark
3rd FANFARON – Sam Clipperton

Hot favourite Morton’s Fork blew the start to be well back at the opening, as Lord Macau won the start and settled at the front from Screamarr an Enterprise Mount. Krusty and Tumultuous were next with Fanfaron deep and improving around the outside, then Waldo Waldorf and High Mist, Morton’s Fork and Pirellone, and Harper’s Choice and Salsonic last of all.

Lord Macau held off Screamarr as Clipperton continued to push Fanfaron around wide and moved to third, whilst from well back Morton’s Fork and Pirellone peeled out in the final turn to position for a run. Fanfaron denied the long trip to take the leader in the straight, but it was Morton’s Fork wider still to justify the price and take them all for a solid win after a poor start. High Mist, Harper’s Choice and Salsonic hit the line well.

Watch: Morton’s Fork, Fanfaron.

Race 2 – #THERACES HANDICAP (1500m)

1st DARK EYES – Adam Hyeronimus
2nd SO WILLIE – Rory Hutchings
3rd KINGSGUARD – Tommy Berry

Favourite Kingsguard went straight to the front with Dark Eyes settling just off it, with Louis Sea Kay in third deep outside Classic Uniform and Tenorino. Dabaiinstyle and Naranja were next, Suboric on the fence, Seeking Asylum, So Willie, and a couple of lengths to Pennsylvania Ave, who missed the start.

The front three cornered in a perfect line, while Tenorino and So Willie had a good look up the inside and were making ground. Dubaiinstyle and Suboric were the best down the middle of the track, but a fair bit of bumping an shoving put paid to their chances, despite the pair of them finishing very strongly. So Willie kept going up the inside but it was Dark Eyes proving the toughest from a brave Kingsguard.

Watch: So Willie, Dubaiinstyle, Suboric.

1st STAR SHAFT – Matthew McGillivray (a)
2nd SOMEBODY – Blake Spriggs
3rd STRATUM’S SIREN – Brenton Avdulla

Belle La Belle burst out of the gates to go to the front, whilst Bobby Be raced up to join and Sucker did likewise form the outside. A gap then to Raised a Legend, with Tudor Sunrise and Somebody caught deep and Flash In The Dark and Sister Joy on the inside. Deals ‘n’ Diamonds was next with Star Shaft on the rails and Stratum’s Siren out wide, then a further gap to Admission, Bid Of Faith and Louis’ Choice last of all.

They emerged from the turn in a mob, the leaders under immense pressure as Star Shaft and Sucker moved up. Somebody emerged from wider to hit the lead with Stratum’s Siren and Deals ‘n’ Diamonds getting towed in, but it was Start Shaft responding superbly to the challenge to run on for a tough win.

Watch: Deals ’n’ Diamonds, Tudor Sunrise.

1st ESTEBAN – Rory Hutchings
2nd ROCK MYLADY – Tye Angland
3rd ERIKA – Tommy Berry

Favourite Esteban rolled through to settle in the lead from Thurston coming across, Lautaro in third, Song And Laughter on the fence and Subway Surfer moving up. Rock Mylady was next from Kiseki Dane and Red Dubawi, then two lengths to Erika, Dure and Something Borrowed at the rear.

Hutchings maintained a comfortable lead along the back as the field bunched and relaxed, Rock Mylady probably the noticeable improver and maintaining a bit of pace, whilst Lautaro moved up behind the leader to sit a clear second. Hutchings still sat quietly approaching the final turn but his mount seemed to find something, accelerating nicely to leave the pursuers furiously punching away. Rock Mylady, Erika and Red Dubawi fought on but it was never in doubt as the leader cruised down the straight to salute by some seven lengths.

Watch: Esterban.

1st SUPER TYCOON – James Innes Jr (a)
2nd FINAL DECISION – Adam Hyeronimus
3rd FRANCESCO – Sam Clipperton

Choice Larga was out hard to take the lead by a couple of lengths from Vite Loni, followed by Figtree, Courtza King and Francesco. Lay Down The Law was next from Obsidian, Consign and Steamin’, then Wine’n’Dine, Final Decision, Forget Maybe, and Super Tycoon a long last having missed the start.

Jennings kept the foot down on the leader and ensured a healthy speed, leading handily out of the straight as the chasers set themselves led by Francesco, Vite Loni and Figtree. They ran the leader down with Francesco first to get there and Final Decision looming up the inside, before Super Tycoon, widest and from last, rattle dhome down the outside to dive at the line and pip Final Decision in a photo.

Watch: Super Tycoon, Francesco.

Race 6 – WINTER STAKES (1400m)

1st OXFORD POET – Tim Clark
2nd ZIN ZAN EDDIE – Jason Collett
3rd NINTH LEGION – Sam Clipperton

Bit of a battle for the lead as Oxford Poet shoved through to take it from Ninth Legion, with Marenostro third the fence with Hidden Warrior outside. A gap then to Zin Zan Eddie and a further gap to Snippets Land outside of Wouldn’t It Be Nice, then Better Not Blue, Shadow Lord and Tales Of Grimm.

Better Not Blue and Snippets Land stepped outside down the side to improve to midfield, with Tales Of Grimm doing likewise to corner wide. No change at the front as they straightened, Oxford Poet holding off Ninth Legion as Marenostro battled along the rail and Zin Zan Eddie led the raiders from outside. Plenty of ground made up but they’d left it too late, Oxford Poet hanging on in the finish.

Watch: Zin Zan Eddie.

Race 7 – TAB.COM.AU HANDICAP (1200m)

1st GRANDE PUNTO – Jason Collett
2nd PAINTE – Tim Clark
3rd TADDEI TONDO – Brenton Avdulla

Good battle for the lead here, Aroused pushed through to claim it from Slate On Edge and Moral Victory coming across from wide and El Sasso and Painte closer. A gap then to Taddei Tondo outside of Grande Punto, then Barbed three-wide outside Sweet Fire and Sense And Reason, with Forget last.

El Sasso and Painte went wide out of the corner, straightening behind Moral Victory, who led the pursuit on the leader. With a gap opening Grande Punto punched through with some momentum, whilst Tandei Tondo found likewise further out and Painte revved up down the outside. All three finished hard with Grande Punto the strongest.

Watch: Grand Punto, Painte.

Race 8 – PLUCK @ VINERY HANDICAP (1350m)

1st ELLE LOU – Glyn Schofield
2nd EXTENSIBLE – Sam Clipperton
3rd FRILL SEEKING – Andrew Adkins (a)

Bonete shot to the front on settling from Frill Seeking and Marple Miss, Distraught outside of the favourite Thud and a gap to Extensible and In A Wink. Next was Fiftyshadesofgrey and Elle Lou, and a few lengths to Mandalong Kiss and Zelda at the rear.

Good speed through out as they strung out, Frill Seeking pushing up to join the leader. The pair cornered in front with favourite Thud leading the chase but not looking convincing, as the fancied Elle Lou loomed up along the rail. It would be Elle Lou with a great run inside for the win, Thud dropping off and not producing.

Watch: Elle Lou.

1st ISORICH – Taylor Marshall (a)
2nd BUTTERBOOM – Tim Clark
3rd DRAGON FLYER – Tye Angland

It was Raijinz shooting through upon settling to claim the lead from Isorich and Nite Rocker, with No Bad Blood moving up outside of favourite Butterboom. Next was Conarchie outside of Aghamore, then Dragon Flyer and Grafelli, Puzzling Wonder, Hill Spy, and Bring Luck last.

Into the straight and Isorich got a good luck up the inside and didn’t need to asked twice, shooting through but leaving enough room to be joined by favourite Butterboom. The two of them were barely separated as Dragon Flyer and No Bad Blood finished hard down the outside.

Watch: Isorich, No Bad Blood.

Horses to follow: Esteban, Super Tycoon, Elle Lou, No Bad Blood.
