Rosehill Review July 30th

Compiled by Todd Burmester Race 1 – Pace: Good Valdhez, Whisperossa: No clear running in the straight for either of them once the field packed up on the turn, forget the runs and go on previous form. Nextanix: Missed the kick, ran on well, needs to learn to jump with them. Altius: Sat wide the whole way but it turned out an advantage when the field packed up on the turn. Can go on with it. Sienna Red: Had a cushy run and got the split when necessary, but not good enough. Circle Of Power: Not fully clear for the first half of the straight, kept trying all the way to the line Follow: Altius, Valdhez, Whisperossa Race 2 Pace: Good Florentina: Had the run of the race and just scrambled home Double Ranga: Looked the winner with 100m to go but just peaked on its run Road To Summer and Manor House: Went pretty quickly up near the lead but were fairly quickly beaten in the straight, particularly Manor House Strike The Stars: Got well back, ran on well even without a lot of clear room in the straight. A future winner over more ground if ever I saw one! Follow: Strike The Stars, Double Ranga Race 3 – Pace: Average Mikiyama: D Oliver won it by working to the front and then running his own race. Had the best kick in the straight. Winning Glory: Doesn’t have a lot of heart in a close finish if you ask me. Aruriteson: Didn’t get to lead at its own leisure like last start Telesmon: Ran ok again, but is becoming a costly punting proposition now Codeword: Has a good finishing sprint, but needs a race where there is a fast pace to be seen at its best. Follow: Codeword (if you can find it in a race with a lot of pace) Race 4 – Pace: Fast Brayroan: The punters forgave his recent “average” form and he fell in here after having a nicer run in transit than recent runs. Raced like a stayer. Othello: Set a good pace here and kept going pretty well. Can win races using these tactics Thumbtacs: An honest effort but just found one too good on the day Follow: Othello Race 5 – Pace: Slow/Average Hide N Dash: Missed the kick yet again! Counterpane: Also missed the kick and did little Divya, Miss Marx, Sweetest Melody: All sat on the pace which was not fast. Miss Marx and Sweetest Melody went on with it, Divya dropped out. Upon This Rock: Also on the pace with a cushy run, ran ok. Jali: One of the only runners to make ground from the back in a race without a lot of pace. Nice run. Follow: Jali Race 6 – Pace: Fast Bay Window: Pushed hard to lead from out wide, dropped out badly. Will be getting fitter. Foreteller: Got well back on a hot pace and finished off a mile too good. Could be a pretty good horse. Scarf: Did a great job in the straight. Could have easily fallen when missing a run, and somehow managed to run second. Devils Arcade: Began better today and ran well enough without looking a winning change following the fast pace of the race. Break Card: Wide all the way, made its run pretty early and was still there for a long way in the straight Follow: Foreteller, Scarf, Break Card Race 7 – Pace: Good Sikka: Missed the start, went ok. Forgive the run. Stratford: Cushy run midfield, cruised up to them and looked like it would win easily. Not as impressive as last start but got the job done. Unanimously: On the pace all the way and it was another consistent run. Always puts in. Hurrara: Set the pace but dropped out badly. Maybe something amiss or just went too hard. See The World: Just took a bit longer than the winner to wind up, but did an excellent job to get as close as it did. Follow: See The World, Unanimously Race 8 – Pace: Slow/Average Nice And Neat: Masterful ride by Cassidy to use the rail to guide Nice And Neat who was wayward last start. Got there for a narrow win, potentially in the worst ground. Dailika: Tracked wide all the way and got done by a fairly narrow margin. Make of it what you will. Recorrido: Needs to correct his barrier manners. Ran on ok after missing the start, and the pace wasn’t fast here. Nothing Like Luca: Very good down the outside late. Good run for something longer or perhaps slightly easier? Al’s Gold and Duke Of Cornwall: Both honest runs without looking the winner. Follow: Dailika, Nothing Like Luca Summary Of Runners to Follow: Altius, Valdhez, Whisperossa, Strike The Stars, Double Ranga, Codeword, Othello, Jali, Foreteller, Scarf, Breakcard, Stratford, See The World, Unanimously, Dailika, Nothin Like Luca Specials Altius, Jali, Foreteller, Breakcard, See The World, Nothin Like Luca
