Race 1 – Funland Australia Handicap (1100m)

1st Veranillo – Brenton Avdulla
2nd Groundbreak – Christian Reith
3rd Epic Rant – Joshua Parr

The 2YOs kicked off proceedings and the lead was hotly contested, with Arbitrate booted up to hold the fence, Veranillio the middle and Junglized three deep. It was a further length back to another line of three, Our Mantra the fence, The Mission in the middle and Epic Rant three wide. Groundbreak was seeing them all about four lengths from the lead.

On the turn for home and Arbitrate kicked out a length clear with Veranillo giving chase. Groundbreak was starting to make it’s run down the middle of the track. In the final 150m Veranillio fought off Arbitrate and Groundbreak had peaked on his run. Veranillo went down to record a good victory from Groundbreak, and Epic Rant falling into third.

Race 2 – Club Marconi Handicap (1300m)

1st Zumbelina – Rory Hutchings
2nd Cadogan – Brenton Avdulla
3rd Samadoubt – Deanne Panya (a)

Samadoubt found the front pulling hard for its rider. Mandee was outside Vasiliev and they were two lengths from the lead. It was a further length back to Zumbelina who was getting a good run. Cadogan was last and five lengths from the leader. Pace from the small field was good.

On the swing for home and Samadoubt kicked clear with Zumbelina and Cadogan looking the only other winning chances. At the 150m and the early work told, Zumbelina ran straight past the leader to record a soft victory from Cadogan who was sound in defeat.

Race 3 – Cosmedic Central Handicap (2400m)

1st Pursuit Of Honour – Tye Angland
2nd Der Meister – Tim Clark
3rd Soviet Courage – Joshua Parr

Soviet Courage was the pace maker from Judge Doom, who had to work early to be outside the leader. It was a length back to Doc Holliday and Der Meister, then a further length to Lonely Orphan and Low Places. Cramming and Pursuit of Honour brought up the rear eight lengths from the leader.

The moves came before the turn with both Doc Holliday and Low Places commencing runs out wide to challenger the leader. Into the straight and anyone’s race. Soviet Courage was kicking strongly along the fence, Der Meister had peeled off its back to start its run. Low Places went early whacking away and the fresh horse Pursuit Of Honour charged down the middle. Pursuit of Honour was just a little too good over a brave Der Meister and Soviet Courage.

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1400m)

1st Darts Away – Adam Hyeronimus
2nd Nic’s Vendetta – Andrew Adkins (a)
3rd Artistic Beauty – Christian Reith

Dothraki Queen found the front by a length over Nic’s Vendetta. It was further length to Akiko Gold and Budderoo Knight. It was a further two lengths to Darts Away and Artistic Beauty. It was a further length back to Rosaruby and Dyrham Park. The well fancied Say You Love Me was last and eight lengths from the lead.

On the swing from home and another competitive finish. Dothraki Queen rolled off the fence to present a dream passage for Darts Away. Nic’s Vendetta was making a strong challenge. Budderoo Knight joined in with Artistic Beauty down the middle of the straight. In the final 100m Darts Away did just that, sprinting hard along the fence to record victory from a wall in second. Nic’s Vendetta continues its strong preparation.

Race 5 – All Our Mob Handicap (1200m)

1st Lunar Rise – Tim Clark
2nd Snippets Land – Blake Shinn
3rd Meursault – Brenton Avdulla

Kudero found the front by a length over Meursault and a further two lengths away to That’s A Good Idea. Another two lengths to Lunar Rise.  Snippets Land and Moral Victory brought up the tail about seven lengths from the lead. It was a hot pace up front.

In the straight and Kudero hoisted the white flag with Meursault running to the front with That’s A Good Idea giving chase. Lunar Rise and Snippets Land commenced runs down the middle of the track. In the final 100m the hot pace caught up with the leader and Lunar Rise pounced to record victory over the fast finishing Snippets Land. Meursault was good first up with the hot pace.

Race 6 – Club Marconi Amartrice Fund Handicap (1200m)

1st Daysee Doom – Andrew Adkins (a)
2nd Nudierudie – Christian Reith
3rd Painted Firetail – Brenton Avdulla

Wine Tales missed the start by 4 lengths. Yuma Desert found the front with Alpen Rose sitting on its outside. It was a length back to Leami Astray who was on the outside of Alart. It was another length back to Daysee Doom with Painted Firetail who was on its inside. Nudierudie was a further length behind. Again the speed was good.

On the swing for home and Daysee Doom went to the middle and Painted Firetail rode for luck that was the story of the race. Yuma Desert kicked strongly with Daysee Doom looking a strong danger. Painted Firetail got chopped out when looking for a run. Alart was working home along the fence. In the final 150m Daysee Doom kicked clear to record a good victory over Nudierudie who ran on soundly and the luckless Painted Firetail.

Race 7 – Schweppes Mix & Serve Handicap (1500m)

1st Moher – Brenton Avdulla
2nd Balmain Boy – Tim Clark
3rd Wine ‘N’ Dine – Joshua Parr

Moher again found the front comfortably, three lengths clear of Darci’s Affair and Balmain Boy, another couple back to Mr Gustavo and Wine ‘N’ Dine. Another three lengths to Royal Tudor. Darci Be Good and Trafalgar were seeing them all ten lengths from the lead.

Moher turned for home with a good lead. Balmain Boy and Wine ‘N’ Dine both giving chase and looking the only dangers. Balmain Boy made some ground on Moher but never looked like winning as Moher recorded victory to continue its excellent preparation. Royal Tudor caught the eye making steady ground down the straight and looks ready to win

Race 8 – #theraces Handicap (1300m)

1st Burning Passion – Tim Clark
2nd Ryker – Nick Heywood (a)
3rd Eminent Duke – Deanne Panya (a)

Choice Larga found the front from Ryker on the leaders back. Il Mio Destino was on its outside. It was two lengths back to Burning Passion. It was then another couple of lengths to Eminent Duke and Final Decision. Redoutable Heart was caught a touch wide at the tail and Cauthen’s Power was seeing them all ten lengths from the leader.

Choice Larga rolled off the fence presenting Ryker with a rails run. Burning Passion was starting a strong run down the middle. Asinara was trying to weave a passage to be in the finish. Eminent Duke and Redoutable Heart were running on and looking a strong place chance. In the final 100m the good run of Burning Passion came to the fore as he kicked clear to record victory. A wall of horses behind them with Redoutable Heart catching the eye making good ground after an awkward run.

Race 9 – TAB Rewards Handicap (1100m)

1st Nieta – Joshua Parr
2nd Infra Dig – Tim Clark
3rd Lady Jivago – Grant Buckley

Raphael’s Cat and Highly Geared contested the lead with Top Striker pulling hard a length back in third. It was three lengths back to Elemenohpee who was inside of Neita. Then came Capitano, Infra Dig and Lady Jivago was seeing them all. Yet another race of good speed.

Heading for home and Elemenohpee was starting a rails run. Nieta was under a tight grip and making a run down the middle. Infra Dig and Lady Jivago both looking place chances and working home. In the final 150m it was all Nieta as she exploded away to record an easy and impressive victory. Lady Jivago and Infra Dig both ran on soundly without ever looking the winner.
