Runners to watch: Randwick, Boxing Day

All of Shane Adair's blackbookers from yesterday's meeting.

video analysis

Race 1 – Newgate Sizzling Juvenile Handicap (1000m)

Notes: Hot favourite Hualalai was very disappointing, sitting outside the leader and was the first beaten – I’d want to cast an eye over the stewards report. Wouldn’t be running out to take the short odds on any runners from this event at their next start.

Race 2 – #theraces Handicap (1200m)

Tactical Advantage (1st) – Although receiving a soft run in transit, never looked like losing up the straight once the run appeared, and both the minor placings look above average horses. Has come up well since a spell and looks like it can be followed confidently this preparation.

Race 3 – TAB Sprint (1200m)

Nothing of note in this event

Race 4 – TAB Rewards Mile (1600m)

All In The Reflexs (2nd) – Excellent on pace effort. Took up the running at a solid tempo then gave a strong kick at the top of the straight, only to be nailed right on the line by a horse that had a lot softer run in transit. This horse is fit and in good form and can be followed again this preparation.

Race 5 – Hyland Boxing Day Sale Sprint (1000m)

Awasita (2nd) – Well tried in betting and ready now to win.  Last on the turn and made good ground up the straight. Held up for a stride or two at the 150m which put pay to its chances of winning, will be at peak fitness now and from astute stable. Can be followed with confidence.

Race 6 – Summer Cup (2000m)

Red Excitement (1st) – Demolition job today, well rated in front and kicked strongly at the top of the straight. The most pleasing aspect of the run was that he was strong through the line and getting further in front the further it went. Can be followed at its next start.

Race 7 – Schweppes Handicap (2400m)

Notes: Moderate bunch of stayers in this event, any of the runners outside the placings failed at the trip. I would be reluctant to take any short quotes about any of these runners at their next start.

Race 8 – Handicap (1400m)

Invincible Knight (1st) – Big run! Was first up and produced a powerful finishing burst in the last 200m to overhaul the leaders. Is a horse with ability and looks to be in for a good preparation

I Am Impressed (2nd) – Hasn’t had a lot of luck this preparation and yet again found himself three deep the trip, but kicked very strongly to just be nutted by a horse with above average ability. Be sure to include it at its next start as it will be each way odds. Is fit and racing well.
