Runners to watch: Randwick, February 13th

Shane Adair's blackbookers from the postponed meeting at Randwick.

Race 1 – Ranvet Handicap (1600m)

Liapari (1st) – Missed the kick slightly and took a position at the tail of the field, Dylan’s Rojo turned the speed on down the side and left him with abit of work to do when turning for home. She let down beautifully in the final 200m coming for last to first and win going away on the line. She is holding her form so no need to jump off yet

Race 2 – TAB Highway Handicap (1800m)

Allzin (3rd) – First up after two trials and settled well back in the run. Turning for home was left a huge task of just running a place. Once the jockey got him to the outside he let down in fine style arguably with abit better ride should of won. He doesn’t win often but has come back in good order

Race 3 – Open Markets & Bymg Handicap (2400m)

Regal Monarch (2nd) – Stepping up to a more suitable distance today and ran a much improved race. Was midfield with cover for majority of the event, flushed out at the 800m and came 5-6 wide on turning. The winner just had abit softer run in transit and a fitness edge. Regal Monarch should be at peak fitness next start and can be followed with confidence

Race 4 – Inglis Classic (1200m)

Sweet Deal (2nd) – I think the the closest she was to the fence was 3 wide on turning! Caught 5-6 deep midrace and kicked strongly at the top of the straight. The eventual winner just had a much softer run which told in the final 100m. The first two beat third by over 6 lengths. Huge run and has good ability.

Race 5 – The Chi-X Southern Cross Stakes (1200m)

Le Romain (1st) – First up and raced outside the leader, gave a good kick at the top straight. He as entitled to be run over in the final 200m, however fought on bravely to just win. A really strong victory for a first up run. Has a class edge and can be followed

Race 6 – Trainers Connection Spring Stakes (1600m)

Invincible Gem (1st) – Sat on a good tempo just behind the leader. Beat them off with ease at the top of the straight and won like a really good horse. Has continued to take the step up at every start this preparation. Keep following

Race 7 – TAB Light Fingers Stakes (1200m)

Spright (3rd) – Sat abit worse than midfield and struck a little trouble finding room at the top of straight. Let down well as his condition just gave out in the last 100m. Keep following he is quite smart and looks to have come back in good order

Race 8 – Apollo Stakes (1400m)

Notes: Abit hard to tip Winx going forward with her tomato sauce odds but she was at her brilliant best. I can’t see Hartnell being beaten again this preparation if he avoids Winx in the future. Outstanding run by him first up.

Race 9 – Triscay Stakes (1200m)

Nancy (2nd) – First up and tracked wide into the race on the turn. Ran to the lead at the 200m only to be run down in the final strides to finish in the placings. She is above average and her form last preparation was poor. Looks to have come back in good fashion

Race 10 – Schweppes Handicap (1200m)

Nothing of note in this race.
