Runners to watch: Rosehill, February 18th

Shane Adair's blackbookers from Saturday's meeting.

Race 1 – Spark Of Life Handicap (1100m)

Tactical Advantage (1st) – Well tried in betting and jumped well to sit outside the leader. Turning for home and he kicked strongly to put the field away very quickly. Made it four on the trot this preparation and doesn’t look like the winning streak will be ending anytime soon.

Race 2 – Happy 80th Birthday Stan King Handicap (1350m)

Handfast (2nd) – Worked a touch early to get into a position just outside the leader. Heading into the straight the jockey looked confident sitting up in the saddle. His condition just gave out in the last 100m as the eventual winner swooped home over the top. Big improvement from last start and now peaks in condition.

Race 3 – James Ruse Handicap (1500m)

Antonio Giuseppe (1st ) – First-up and settled just behind the leaders. Peeled out at the top of the straight and was just too strong. The best part of his race was the last 100m when he kicked away on the line. Looks to have come back in good order and was a marked improver last preparation.

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1400m)

Zakynthos Regrets (2nd) – Sweated up a bit in the parade and raced very keenly behind the leader. Was just no match for the winner, however he beat third by three lengths. A win in similar grade is just around the corner for this bloke.

Race 5 – TAB Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m)

Notes – She Will Reign was outstanding again. Missed the kick and settled last in the run. They had their chance to beat her but weren’t good enough. Hard to see how that group could turn the tables on her in the slipper.

Race 6 – Schweppes Hobartville Stakes (1400m)

Nothing of note in this race.

Race 7 – Millie Fox Stakes (1300m)

Euro Angel (2nd) – First-up and sent out favourite. Got well back in the run and went back to the fence in the straight, which was the worst part of the track up the straight. Was noted making really good ground in the last 200m. Looks to have come back in good shape this preparation and can be followed strongly.

Race 8 – Parramatta Cup (1900m)

Red Excitement (2nd) – Huge drifter in betting ($4 to $11) you could have been lead to think he was missing a leg after two previous strong wins. Settled in a nice position and was just unable to run down the leader and eventual winner. There was a very good margin back to third, so suspect this race will hold up. He is continuing to hold his form.

Race 9 – St Johns Park Bowling Club Handicap (1100m)

Nothing of note in this race.
