Race 1 – China Horse Club Mile  (1600m)

Note – Futooh was our first winner of Day 2 of The Championships. Sitting well back on the fence and ridden for luck she got the gaps and sprinted to well to score. Excellent ride from J Collett.  Second was the stable mate Muswellbrook who boxed seated behind the leaders and got out in enough time. Just found the winner to good. Aristocratic Miss was easy in the betting and given every chance in the run and battled away into third. Might be looking for a spell now. Both Legislation & Bold Arial who were met with support set the early pace and over did it a touch up front and knocked up in the straight setting the race up for the back markers to get home. Going forward Muswellbrook was the best of the on pace runners and I would be happy to be on him next start.

Race 2 – The Agency South Pacific Classic (1400m)

Note – California Turbo made it two from two this preparation setting well back and running on strongly to score after Waimea Bay took off at the 800m to really set it up for the backmarkers to get home. Dark Dream finished second and really flew late to narrowly go down in what was a good performance. Renewal was the best of the on pace runners battling on well in the straight to hold onto third and I think the one to follow out of the event. Race favourite Isaurian sat outside the leader in the run and just ran out of steam in the final 200m. Was still a solid performance and not willing to right that him off on that. Going forward happy to stick with Renewal who fought on well in the straight after the hot pace was set up front.

Race 3 – Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m)

Note – Race favourite Pure Elation got the job done sitting midfield one off the fence and sprinting well in the straight to win quite comfortably on the line. Fiesta was second and go to the outside in enough time to wind up however found the winner to good. Outback Barbie who was well supported in betting was travelling well in the run however found trouble in the straight as the winner pinched a break. Should of finished closer. The two Goldolphin runners Gongs & Cristobal were both sound performances however never looked winning chances. Going forward not a race I can take too much away from. The winner was good and given every chance and Outback Barbie should of finished closer the rest didn’t scream back me next start.

Race 4 – Provincial Championships Final (1400m)

Note – A good early pace ensured the swoopers could get home and it was Serene Miss settling well back getting to the outside and sprinting well and avoided the interference to score well. Newsfan in second was very unlucky after being held up in the straight and sprinted well once clear to run the winner to just a length margin on the line. Plaisir was last on turning after being slowly away and ran on down the outside to finish a good third at good odds. Both Bon Amis & Just Dreaming were trapped wide throughout and stuck on well in the straight to finish just outside of the money.  I liked the run of Kool Vinnie who ran into a lot of traffic in the straight and no doubt should of finished a lot closer than the 7th placing. Going forward it was  very competitive race with not a lot between all of them. Happy to be on both Bon Amis & Just Dreaming next start and don’t let the Newsfan & Kool Vinnie go around without your support next start.

Race 5 – Arrowfield Sprint (1200m)

Note  – Catchy bounced back to winning form with a last to first victory. Getting to the middle of the track and out of trouble to score in impressive fashion. Showtime sat right behind the leader and got the run once the leader peeled off the fence and sprinted well however was every chance in winning.  I Am Excited was touch worse than midfield in the run and sprinted well to hold third. Continues to race well this preparation. Houtzen led them up and didn’t offer a lot in the straight and race favourite Viridine is still waiting for a run after being held up for majority of the straight. Going forward happy to stick with Catchy who was impressive in winning today and give Viridine another opportunity after a luckless run.

Race 6 – Australian Oaks (2400m)

Note – Unforgotten  the race favourite saluted in the Oaks. Getting well back in the run she sprinted well in the straight to reign in Hiyaam who led a good clip and kicked strongly before the turn and was game in defeat in running second. These two were a class above the rest. Miss Admiration was $101 when they jumped and ran on well from the tail to get third in a good effort for something easier.. Of the beaten brigade Bring Me Roses was sound running on and looks a promising stayer next preparation as she has proven herself twice now 2400m. I’m not sure Aloisia go is 2400m+ she was sound working to the line however never looked a winning chance. Going forward you have to stick with the first two across the line who were both excellent.

Race 7 – Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m)

Note – The party rolls on with Winx  continuing on her winning way. In her typical racing style she got back and came wide and let down to well to win running away on the line. The best! Gailo Chop was good on pace running second and fought on well in the straight after leading them up. Happy Clapper was at his honest best working to the line well to run third from the tail, however both were no match for Winx.

Humidor was slightly held up at the top of the straight which probably stopped him making it into the money. It was a solid performance. Both second and third can be followed with a race without Winx in it!

Race 8 – Sydney Cup (3200m)

Note – Who Shot TheBarman was back in the winners circle after a grinding victory over the marathon trip. Sitting towards the tail he steamed home down the middle of the track to reel in outsider Zacada who at huge odds ($91) ran a good race hugging the fence the entire way and just being pipped right on the line. Sir Charles Road was third and had a similar run to the Zacada hugging the fence and kicking strongly in the straight. Just found a couple too good today. Auvray & Patrick Erin were both good running on late to just miss the money. Race favourite Almandin was pushed wide down the side and was just fair in the run home. Going forward its tricky with limited races over this trip however I think Auvray has a good staying race in him in the future.

Race 9 – Coolmore Legacy Stakes (1600m)

Note – Big win to Alizee sitting well back and coming home like a train to score running away on the line overin very impressive fashion over Prompt Response who sat just behind the leader and kicked strongly in the staright to hold second. Best of the on pace efforts. Heavens Above ran on late to get third after having a midfield run, however never really looked a winning chance. Of the beaten runners Dixie Blossoms was trapped wide throughout and was just fair to the line. Oregon’s Day was another trapped wide and battled on well in the straight to just miss the money. Silent Sedition had a similar run to Prompt Response however could let down sharp enough today to go with the placegetters. Spanish Reef led them up however offered very little in the straight when placed under pressure. I thought the run of Nettoyer was good for something a bit easier finding the line well. Going forward Alizee was fantastic today and Prompt Response continues to race well.

Race 10 – Sapphire Stakes (1200m)

Note – Quilista made it three in a row with a barrier to box victory. Running it hard early and busting the field open she rounded the urn with a good lead and kept kicking to win well over Ravi who was sound in running second chasing hard along the fence however never looked a winning chance. White Moss was third and will be better for the first up effort after racing on pace and chasing the tearaway leader. Of the rest Invincibella ran on well late to just miss the money. The backmarkers weren’t sighted in this so race favourite Sugar Bella finished along way down the track. Going forward the winner is flying and makes her own luck up front which as punter we love to see, also White Moss will be better for that effort and will be picking up a race this preparation.
