Shane Adair race reviews, blackbookers and race notes from Saturday's Sydney metro meeting at Randwick.

Race reviews: Randwick, October 28th

Race 1 – Celebrations Handicap (1300m)

Note – Warranty lead and controlled the speed and gave a good kick at the 200m to holding off the favourite Groundbreak in second who was every possible chance for mine. All Too Soon ran on soundly for the tail to finish third and there will be a maiden victory not too far away based on that performance. Memento sat outside the leader and offered very little in the straight.

Race 2 – Ford Civil Contracting Handicap (1500m)

Note – Favourite backers saluted with I Am Serious running on well to claim victory in which was a solid performance as the race was run to suit. Just Dreaming was the run of the race in second leading at a good tempo and fought on well to run second. Dagny was solid to the line running third however every chance. Miss Dubois missed the placings however made up many lengths in the straight. Pumpkin Pie ridden abit to close to the speed for mine, seems to race better ridden cold and given one shot at them. Going forward I want to be with Just Dreaming

Race 3 – E-Group Security Sprint (1000m)

Note – In a very tight finish Fickle Folly got the bob in to score sitting outside the leader and giving a strong kick he fought off the swell supported I Thought So in second who in one more hop wins the race. These two came right away from Tactical Advantage in third who was very easy in betting and managed to hold third and will be fitter for that effort. All the rest offered very little on face value with a big margin back to third best to keep following first and second out of this event

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1800m)

Note – Excellent ride from Collett  hugging the fence and getting Dia De Reyes into clear running in the straight and he won very easy. Was suited by the fast early pace however way too good for them. Sovereignaire ran on very well from the tail hooking wide down the straight to run second. Very good effort from Dalamatia Prince who sat forward on a good pace and held on well in the straight to run third. Favourite Ready For Danger was solid working to the line to run fourth. Going forward keep sticking with the Dunn Stable in these events. Winner will be winning again and the placegetters in something a bit easier next start would be good chances.

Race 5 – Mcmahons Racecourse Construction Handicap (1400m)

Note  – Good win from Passage Of Time sitting just behind the favourite and proving to good down the straight. Hot favourite Stonebrook was second and every possible chance after findng the front easily, he just found the winner to good. High Mist ran on well to claim third in a race that didn’t suit backmarkers. Pelorus Jack raced very keen and wide in the run and can be put down as a forget effort. Going forward I want to be with the winner again who is not building an impressive overall record.

Race 6 – TJS Services Handicap (1200m)

Note – Firsthand go the bob in taking out the event, looked to had done his chances in the straight laying in on Chalk, however kicked again very strongly in the final 100m to score. To Excess looked to have the race won everywhere bar the winning post as Firsthand lunged late. To Excess was very solid and continues the strong preparation. Chalk was third and lead them up in what was a solid effort again. Favourite Redouble you would want to check the stewards report as was beaten along way. I liked the run of Vigilance who was held up a touch in the straight and hit the line well and will be fitter for that effort. Even bunch of runners who all have their share of ability.

Race 7 – Chambers Russell Lawyers Handicap (2000m)

Note – Strong win to Karavali sitting midfield in the run and peeling to the middle of the straight and blowing them away. Looks like she will get even further based on that effort. Lead Choreographer was good in running second sitting closer than the winner in the run however was no match for the winner. Did beat third by almost 5 lengths!. Last Wish worked to the line in third in an ok effort. Shock Alert when quickly in front and dropped out just as fast on turning. I suspect there was an issue there. All about 1st and 2nd going forward in this event.

Race 8 – Robrick Lodge Filante Handicap (1400m)

Note – Cabeza De Vaca was able to find the front and kicked strongly to win well first up and is worth following based on that performance. A lightly raced 6yo however building an impressive overall record. The stable mate Supply And Demand ran a bottler in running second sitting back and wide and hitting the line in good fashion. Stick with him. Duca Valentinois good in running third however every chance. Of the rest Sir Plush was unable to lead and was trapped wide on speed on battled on ok. Moher was trapped even wider and will be fitter for the effort. Kaepernick  struggles to run 1400m for mine. Stick with the Waterhouse runners going forward!

Race 9 – A W Edwards Handicap (1400m)

Note – Hot favourite Interlocuter kept on his winning way scoring in good style sitting midfield off a good pace and proving to strong over Black On Gold who stuck to the task well in running second. Those two beat the others comfortably with Dark Eyes running third however had all the breaks no having to go around a running. Going forward the winner will want further now and has proven himself at 2000+. For the second placegetter there is another win in similar grade very soon based on that effort.
