Shane Adair race reviews, blackbookers and race notes from Saturday's Sydney metro meeting at Randwick.

Race reviews: Randwick, September 16th

Race 1 – TAB Highway Handicap (1000m)

Note – Larlabrook lead from barrier to box to just hold on over She Knows who raced a touched wide before turning and hit the line well to narrowly miss the winner. Undaoaf was also caught wide mid race and hit the line well to run into the placings. Only 2.3 lengths covered the first 9 across the finishing line so not a race to overly keen about going forward.

Race 2 – Shoot Out Mile (1600m)

Note – Embley made it 2 in a row with a strong all the victory in solid time over Darci’s Affair who settled back in the field and ran on nicely into second. Gold Horizon the stable mate of the second placegetter also ran on very solidly into the placings. Veladero offered little after a good run in transit and race favourite Royal Navy settled last in the field and never looked likely in what was a disappointing performance

Race 3 – Schweppes Heritage Stakes (1100m)

Note – Good win to Viridine first up who had a good run in transit to maintain his unbeaten record. Single Bullet good into second however was every chance in the run. Albumin was well back on turning however hit the line well to run into third. Favourite Malahat was a shade disappointing after finding an easy enough lead to be run down the straight to miss the placings. Marsupial was only fair working to the line. The last placed Goodfella I thought hit the line well and fitter for that effort.

Race 4 – Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m)

Note – Very competitive race, Comin’ Through won the 3 way battle down the straight to be just a shade too strong for Tom Melbourne was again good into second however was every chance to win. The same can be said for Burning Passion lead and fought very hard in the straight to run third. Pajaro at huge odds was excellent into 4th after being slow away and running on very well.

Race 5 – Tea Rose Stakes (1400m)

Note  – Alizee won impressively after sitting midfield and running away to win stylishly. Champagne Cuddles was again good in second however every chance in the run to win. Cellargirl got along way back and hit the line well to run third. Favourite Tulip had a good run in transit and could do not better than finishing 4th. I liked the run of One More Honey at a big price was hitting the line very well late.

Race 6 – Colgate Optic White Stakes (1600m)

Note – Winx made it 20 in a row! Simply the best. Happy Clapper ran a bottler running second and excellent for an easier event. Same can be said for Foxplay who again ran well and looks a great chance in anything that Winx isn’t in!

Race 7 – The Shorts (1100m)

Note – Redzel was just too good in the straight taking a sit just behind the pace and proving to strong. Ball Of Muscle ran really well on pace to hold second after setting a strong pace. Nieta another who ran well to hold a placing and looks good in something a touch easier.  Chautauqua was very good late hitting the line hard and looks to have come back in good again. English I felt was every chance in the run and just missed the placings.

Race 8 – Kingston Town Stakes (2000m)

Note – Big priced winner in Libran won impressively coming from well back on the turn to win running away on the line. Antonio Giuseppe looked the winner in the straight after settling midfield and hitting the front however was rundown by the stablemate. Life Less Ordinary made it a Waller trifecta with a solid third however every chance. Chocante took off early before the turn however the run was short lived and didn’t offer a lot in the straight

Race 9 – tab.com.au Handicap (1200m)

Note – Isorich brave as ever winning the lucky last on speed and just kept kicking to hold them all off. Improvement was sound running second however every chance to claim the winner. Dagny was good late hitting the line well to fill a minor placing. I Thought So was brave on pace and wide and stuck on well for 4th. Love’s A Fantasy was good late and should of finished a touch closer. Missile Coda although racing wide did offer very little in the straight
