Race reviews: Randwick, September 2nd

Race 1 – ANZ NZ Bloodstock News (1300m)

Note – Super Ex lead from barrier to box to win in good time. Merovee hit the line very well from the tail on the turn and would have won in another hop. Favourite Beau Geste was solid in third however every chance to win the race. Island Missile was ok to miss the placings, these four across the line gapped the rest.

Race 2 – National Jockeys trust Handicap (2000m)

Note – Red hot favourite Up ‘N’ Rolling got the job done after being given a perfect ride behind the good speed. Wahng Wah was good in second and chased hard they were over 3 lengths clear of third who was Admiral Jello who ran on soundly from the tail without ever looking the winner

Race 3 – TAB Supports Jockey Trust Mile (1600m)

Note – Embley saluted leading the whole way in good time over More To Gain who was last on the turn and railed through to almost pinch the win in the shadows of the post. All But Gone was sound running on into third and the unlucky runner was favourite Jaminzah who was held up at the vital time, may not have won however should of finished a lot closer. Muraqaba raced outside the winner and was under pressure on turning and dropped out.

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1100m)

Note – Strange run race with a hot early pace of about 6 runners then it changed completely in the final 300m. Winner was My Tagoson who sat well back of the hot speed and ran on strongly to score, same for Mafki Lass who ran on strongly to run second. Super Star Bob was in the group that set the early speed and did run well to hold third. Schedule also ran on soundly to just miss the placings.

Race 5 – Concorde Stakes (1000m)

Note  – A small yet talented field contest the Concorde and it was favourite Redzel leading them from go to woe in good time over Spieth who ran on well from the tail and will be improved from the run. Nieta  was a solid enough third and needs a bit easier next start.

Race 6 – Furious Stakes (1200m)

Note – Formality continued her excellent form this preparation with a strong on pace win holding off the fast finishing Champagne Cuddles and I Am Excited  who both ran on well from the tail. Alizee was every chance in fourth however wasn’t far away. These four cleared out from the rest and all look to have well above average ability

Race 7 – Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes (1600m)

Note – She did it again! Winx another huge victory coming a difficult position on a day where they were struggling to run on. She’s the best! Red Excitement ran a huge race in second after leading on a quick tempo and is the one to follow from the event. Chocante in third and Antonio Giuseppe both ran solid races and will be running well in something abit easier next start

Race 8 – Tattersalls Club Tramway Stakes (1400m)

Note – Happy Clapper won well coming from midfield on the turn to run down Tom Melbourne who raced wide throughout and kicked strongly however was run down late. Invincible Gem in third was unlucky in the straight being held up a couple of times. Doubt she wins but should of finished closer. Ecuador was a solid fourth after leading at a solid tempo

Race 9 – Schweppes Handicap (1400m)

Note – Washington Heights fought really well to win holding off the fast finishing Dawn Wall who headed the winner down the straight. Rocket Commander boxed on ok to hold third after sitting on pace. Forget Veladero went around after being posted 3 wide from the trip. 5 winners for Kerrin McEvoy a huge effort!
