Runners to watch: Rosehill, August 12th

Shane Adair race reviews, blackbookers and race notes from Saturday's Sydney metro meeting at Rosehill.

Race reviews: Rosehill, August 12th

Race 1 – TAB Highway  (1100m)

Note – The plunge came off with first starter Another Sin winning from barrier to box to just edge ot Lifesaver who had a two horse war don’t the straight. They were 3 lengths ahead of Prince Jacko in third. Cartel ended his chances after a slow get away, would be forgiving that performance.

Race 2 – Fairfield RSL Club Handicap (2000m)

Note – King Viv just got there opening up his city account of wins over Not A Gypsy who was every chance in second with a nice run behind the leader. Multifacets in third after leading. Both Waller runs hot favourite Vaucluse Bay & Zourkhan dropped out sharply on the turn and would pay to check the stewards report on both as they were both too bad to be true

Race 3 – Merrylands RSL Club Premier’s Cup Prelude (1800m)

Note – Arbeitsam bolted in winning by almost 5 lengths and continues to race well this preparation. Classic Uniform battled away on pace to hold second and Sultan Of Swing steadily ran on into third. Second favourite Loyalty Man did very little and big drifter Liapari was never sighted finished along way back. It was a one act affair

Race 4 – Dooleys Handicap (1100m)

Note – Badajoz just got over Denmagic in a tight finish. The winner sat just behind the pace and quickened well enough to get over Denmagic who yet again produced a very good first up run. Selita was sound on pace running third. Denpurr was a touch unlucky in the straight and should of finished closer. No Doubt worked to the line soundly and I would be forgiving Sir Plush after racing wide throughout

Race 5 – St Johns Park Bowling Club Handicap (1350m)

Note  – Dominate win for favourite The Pharoah jumping straight to the front and giving nothing else a chance. Hogmanay was sound in running second working steadily to the line. Condition just gave out on Peacock and might be better for that effort. Argent D’or ran on well late to miss the placings

Race 6 – Smithfield RSL Club Rosebud (1100m)

Note – Menari well first up, coming from back on the turn and sprinting to quickly to win going away. Siege Of Quebec was very good in running second after leaing the hot speed fought on well. Trekking was a little held up in the straight but I doubt could of won. Both Overshare & Perast were sound after hard on pace runs and ran well for something easier next start.

Race 7 – Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL Club Spring Preview (1400m)

Note – A couple hard luck stories here. Kingsguard landed the prize ridden off pace and producing a strong run down the middle to narrowly score over Tom Melbourne was given a good run  however was held up badly in the straight and charged late to just miss. Etymology was sound into third placing. Washington Heights never got a crack at them and just a complete forget run

Race 8 – ClubsNSW  Handicap (1400m)

Note – Big result with $31 chance Elouera winning after making a strong run down the middle of the track from back in the field. Faith’s Encore was every chance in running second after a nice run behind the pace. Prada Miss ran well into third after having a wide run in transit. Mariquita ran on soundly from well back. Slumber Party was disappointing as favourite. Not a strong event I believe with 1.7 lengths covering the first 8 across the line

Race 9 – Campbelltown Catholic Club Handicap (1500m)

Note –Special Missile won well as a well supported favourite leading from go to woe to make it 4 in a row. Both Mapmaker & Nat King Cu had ood runs on pace and boxed on solidly to feel the minor placings. Imanui just got to far back in the run and hit the line the well. The winner continues to impress
