Runners to watch: Rosehill, December 2nd

Shane Adair race reviews, blackbookers and race notes from Saturday's Sydney metro meeting at Rosehill.

Race reviews: Rosehill, December 2nd

Race 1 – Book Summer Hospitality Today Plate (1100m)

Note – Very tight finish to start the day with Perfect Pitch getting the bob in right on the line to score after sitting outside the leader and wearing it down the straight. Miss Invincible was second and lead them up, however did pull hard for the rider and that may of told in the end. Will be better for that effort. Toulouse ran on well late to finish third in a race dominated by the on pace runners. Race favourite Colombina was every chance in the run along with stable mate Rheingau who was a bit green in the straight. Going forward not a race I’m getting to excited about as a form reference

Race 2 – ATC Membership Now Open Sprint (1200m)

Note – Small field of four faced the starter and it was solid victory to Epidemic sitting outside the leader and being just being a bit to good to make it two in a row. Curdled was second and was slightly held up in the straight, however every chance for mine. Equal Balance in third was much of the same sat behind the winner and go close however wasn’t quite good enough in what was a solid effort. Going forward the winner is racing well however a bit weary of jumping into a short quote about him next start

Race 3 – tab.com.au Handicap (2400m)

Note – Well tried favourite Imperial Aviator scored after having a nice run behind the leader and proved to strong down the straight Great Glen in second was well rated in front and gave a good kick on straightening however just found one abit better today. Last Wish  at big odds ran on well from the tail to finish third. Of the beaten runners hard to make much of a case for anything else. Going forward the winner looks like a stayer of promise over these summer months as he was still only second up today.

Race 4 – TAB Highway Handicap (1200m)

Note – Charge of the light brigade up front in this event and had to set it up for something to run on. Volpe sat behind the pace and weaved a passage to score going away on the line. Rugenbrau was very similar run to the winner settles back and had to weave through the traffic, should of finished a touch closer to the winner for mine. Shelley Beach Road was the run of the race sat 3 wide on pace and stuck well to finish third. There is another win in her this preparation based on that effort. Forgive race favourite Takookacod who should of finished closer after finding trouble in the straight. Going forward there is another victory in Shelley Beach Road this preparation

Race 5 – Boxing Day At Royal Randwick Handicap (1500m)

Note  – Sedanzer made it two in a row in a very dominate victory, sitting just behind the leaders she peeled to the middle of the straight and never looked like losing. Keep following. Second went to Hunter Jack was good in running second hitting the line well from back in the field in what was a good effort from a let up. Cellarman solid in third running on however every chance and had a soft run in transit. Redouble did a little bit of early work to get to outside the leader however was a little bit plain today. Going forward stick with the winner there is more coming her way!

Race 6 – ATC Cup (2000m)

Note – Broadside scored quite comfortably after having a nice run just behind the speed to win running away. Lord Kingsley in second sat last and ran on well, continues to keep his good form going this preparation. Montauk was good after a let up at this trip. Back to Randwick will see him pick up a race in the coming months. The short price favourite Savapinski was very average, might want to check the stewards report. Black On Gold offered little and must be something amiss with Fabrizio. Going forward stick with Broadside looks to have come back well after a freshen up.

Race 7 – Festival Stakes (1500m)

Note – Testashadow did best to score in a tight finish. Sitting abit worse than midfield in the run he let down well then fought off the late challenge Mister Sea Wolf in second  who came from a similar position in the run. Red Excitement was third and ran well from last late in the piece. Federal was just fair and looked to have every chance for mine and race favourite Cabeza De Vaca was disappointing today and offered little in the straight, may of went a touch to hard in front as he was up in class and distance. Going forward I would want to be with Mister Sea Wolf, first run in Australia and will be improved from that effort. Looks to have ability.

Race 8 – Starlight Stakes (1100m)

Note – Egyptian Symbol was to good first up,  well backed and sitting back and wide she let down with a very strong win to score with authority. Keep following. Glenall  was good in running second coming down the inferior part of the track from midfield on turning. Isorich was the standard Isorich game and tough on pace and never gives in. Of the beaten runners put a line through Tactical Advantage & Sir Plush both very wide on speed. Sir Plush did a very good job to finish 5th. Zestful was sound running on from well back. Going forward I want to be with first and second both very good efforts.

Race 9 – ATC Owners Benefit Card Handicap (1300m)

Note – Uptown Lad made it 2 in a row with a very strong victory sitting well back and unleashing a strong run down the straight to win with ease. Keep following.  Level Eight raced wide throughout and did a good job to finish second however never looked a winning chance. Powerline in third was also not too bad on the inferior side of the straight to hold third. Milwaukee was caught in the wrong position leading at this time of the day as swooping from the tail is what you needed to be doing. I would be forgiving. Best Guess was disappointing and offered little in the straight. Going forward stick with the winner building an impressive record.
