Runners to watch: Rosehill, September 9th

Shane Adair race reviews, blackbookers and race notes from Saturday's Sydney metro meeting at Rosehill.

Race reviews: Rosehill, September 9th

Race 1 – Schweppes Handicap (1500m)

Note –Positive Problems lead from barrier to box after a good ride from Blake Shinn to win in good time over,  Mariquita who sat last on the hot speed and rattled home last to just go down. Cambage was sound to the line however every chance. Favourite Karavali was disappointing after sitting off the good speed made no impression down the straight.

Race 2 – TAB Highway Handicap (1200m)

Note – Suncraze continued his ever consistent preparation after being given a good ride just off the speed in wearing down Don’t Give A Damn in the field 100m to win narrowly. Don’t Give A Damn was very good in running second after racing a touch keenly. They came right away from roughie Levee Bank in third. Both Northern Knight & Mossman George offered little in the straight to miss the placings. I wouldn’t be looking to much further back than the first two

Race 3 – Rydges Parramatta Handicap (1800m)

Note – In a driving finish Quick Defence just got there after an excellent ride from Avdulla. Imanui in second was good running on and looking the winner, however was just pipped by Quick Defence. On speed runner Mapmaker did well to hold onto third after setting a strong sped on pace. Favourite Alward was disappointing after being given a good run behind the leaders.

Race 4 – Stan Fox Stakes (1500m)

Note – Gold Standard got it done in good style sitting on pace and gave another good kick in the straight to hold the rivals at bay in very quick time. Sanctioned in second over raced at the back of the field however did hit the line well and can be followed. Addictive Nature was the short priced favourite and did have every chance in running third. Happy to forgive The Mission who was set alight a long way from home and knocked up at the 200m. First two across the line in this both very good

Race 5 – Theo Marks Stakes (1300m)

Note  – Deploy did it again leading from start to finish winning by 4 lenghts and breaking another track record. The horse is simply flying! Egg Tart was a big drifter in betting however hit the line in good style running second and looks to have come back well. Euro Angel was sound late sneaking into third after being at the tail on the bend. It was a one act affair this event

Race 6 – Sheraco Stakes (1200m)

Note – Best run won with Ravi saluting after sitting just behind the leaders and sprinting to well. Perizada was second sitting midfield and running on soundly, although every chance that is good enough for something easier. Daysee Doom ran her standard honest race getting back and running on well to finish third. Favourite Bonny O’Reilly was sound however every chance. Omei Sword looks a shadow of what she once produced, I would wait until she shows us something. Did notice Danish Twist hitting the line very well late and should have finished closer. Forgive Denmagic & Ghisoni who both raced wide

Race 7 – Run To The Rose (1200m)

Note – Menari did it again in impressive fashion. Sitting just behind the leader and proving to strong over Pariah in second who stalked Menari in the run however just couldn’t quite go with his class. Perast the bolter ran an excellent race setting a good speed and holding on for third at huge odds. The first two across the line as the betting suggested are a class above that field

Race 8 – Fugen Stakes (1200m)

Note – Zumbelina given a dream ride scored. Sitting just behind the leader was able to obtain a rails run to score in good time over the pace setter Tango Rain who ran well leading until the final 100m in running second. Isorich was sound on pace finishing third, had every chance. Supreme Effort was noticed making good ground from the rear late at huge odds.

Race 9 – Handicap (1400m)

Note – Wayanka got the result in the last in the stewards room after running second to Interlocuter who caused interference in the straight. The runs of both first and second were very good however were set up by the good early pace. Oklahoma Girl ran on soundly to finish third. Roughie Choice Larga who set the early pace held on well at big odds to finish just outside the placings and was good for something easier. The Pharoah was disappointing and Galaxy Warrior just got to far back and ran home steadily.
