Runners to watch: Warwick Farm, July 8th

Shane Adair's race reviews, blackbookers and race notes from Saturday's Sydney metro meeting at Warwick Farm.

Race reviews: Warwick Farm, July 8th

Race 1 – TAB Handicap (1200m)

Awesome Pluck  (3rd)  – Jumped ok however was posted 3-4 wide for the trip, was entitled to knock up into the straight however responded and hard hard riding to hit the line well into 3rd. This is only his second career start and did bolt in on debut in the bush. Keep following.

Note – Welcome to the blue jacket James Cummings! Manicure got the job done in good style after given the run of the race. Brook Road almost pinched it leading the whole way, continues to race well. Wild Heart ran on well into 4th from a long way back

Race 2 – Australian Turf Club Handicap (1400m)

Philosophy (4th) – Sat just behind the speed in good position, however the hand break went out and the back markers started 3 wide runs meaning she was now stuck in heavy traffic. Into the straight she never saw daylight and went to the line with more to give. Has a lot of ability and can bounce back next start

Note – Winner was a blow out Loves A Fantasy scoring at $18 in a grinding finish over the unlucky Reiby Rampart who was trapped very wide in the run and still battled on well down the straight to run second.

Race 3 – Pro Rata ATC Membership Sale (2400m)

Note – Favourite Seyed got the job done this week in the usual suspects handicap. Go Benny was a solid effort running into second and looks a strong chance again in a weaker race. Collateral was fair to the eye, probably should of hooked out earlier than he did and made steady ground to line. Could be looking for a break.

Race 4 – #THERACES Handicap (1400m)

Note – Well supported winner Arbeitsam won in good style jumping straight to the front and giving nothing else a chance. La Chica Bella boxed on solidly to hold third and will be fitter again for the run. Aquatic was last on the turn and hit the line well without threating the winner, does struggle to win however. Both Ghostly & Cosmic Engine were disappointing

Race 5 – TAB Highway Handicap (1500m)

Note  – Very competitive race, the winner Nic’s Vendetta won well chasing down the runaway leader Buddy Honest who set a fast pace and held on well to run fourth. The king of seconds Suncraze got into an awkward position, however hit the line well late. That’s now 6 seconds in a row for him! All of the above can be very competitive again on the country circuit.

Race 6 – Mcgrath Estate Agents (1100m)

Note – Where to look! Only 3 lengths covered the first 10 across the line. Kings Of Leon had the run and got the gaps at the critical time to win well. Spending To Win raced on pace and did well to hold onto second place. Argent D’Or who was well back was noticed making good late ground out wide. Launch Code who was well beaten was disappointing considering Spending To Win raced outside of it. Not a deep form race this one

Race 7 – TAB Handicap (1600m)

Note – Liapari was a good winner coming from last on the turn after being well backed. So Willie was second and did a sound job after being slow away, he continues to hold his form the preparation. Gold Ambition was excellent into third, reaching peak fitness now and a drop in grade can see him in the finish again next start

Race 8 – Schweppes Handicap (1100m)

Note – Winner Isorich did a good after sitting outside the leader and was just abit to strong. Hot Hit is better suited back to 1000m, however run sound into 3rd. Secret Trail was every chance into second. Favourite Your Way was disappointing and would be wanting to see a stewards report. Don’t right her off. Embley looks to have come back in good order and hit the line well without luck. Hes fitter and a step up in trip will see him in the finish again soon.

Race 9 – TAB Handicap (1300m)

Imanui (3rd) – First up and drifted well back in the run in a race where they dropped anchor midrace. Hooked very wide into the straight and unleashed a very strong last 400m to finish just 0.3 length behind the winner. Fitter for that effort and still on the up. Keep following.

Note – Real blanket finish to end the day with under 3 lengths for the first 10 across the line. The winner Petrossian was able to lead and dictate the speed and kicked strongly to just hold on. Nat King Cu was sound into second. Know How was also spotted hitting the line well at a big price.
