Saturday feature racing comes to Bendigo. Our Victorian pro has it covered, with the main race a wide open affair.

Bendigo Race 7, 4:10pm
Listed Bet365 Golden Mile (1600m)

The speed story

Show a Star should lead with Burning Front right there too, and Jacquinot Bay and Longeron will also be forward.  Domino Vitale will be handy to the speed.

In the mix

Burning Front (Weir / Rawiller) is just Mr Consistency.  He’s won his last five and is very fit.

He Or She (Hayes & Dabernig / Dee) is very honest.  It won first-up before being well beaten last time, but is better suited to this grade.

Jacquinot Bay (Hayes & Dabernig / Parish) had a tough run first-up, strips fitter here and is also well-graded in this race.

Longeron (Hawkes / Dunn) is half a chance, having run well first-up before being freshened.

Zebrinz (Corstens / Thompson) is going well and the 1600m suits, and is a bit of a chance to get forward from barrier one.  Observational (Sadler / Newitt) is similarly placed: he won this race two years ago and is targetted for it.

Show A Star (Cumani / Moor) has had a 28 day break and runs best off that.  He’ll lead here and be hard to run down.

Domino Vitale (Little / Mertens) has been up for a while and has rated down on it’s last couple of runs, and looks to have peaked.

Plot The Course (Trotter / Beriman) ran on okay first-up without being suited, and has a good record second-up so I give him a chance here.

War Legend (Moroney / Moloney) has come back well and is ready to peak.

Battlecamp (Freedman / Stackhouse) ran terrific two starts ago over this trip, before getting a bit of a short distance last start.  He should be back to his best here.

Tarquin (O’Shea / Allen) was pretty plain first up, and it’s been a long time since he’s run well.

Put a line through…

Genuine Lad (Smerdon / Meech), Arch Fire (Smerdon / Fry) and General Custer (Noblet / Nikita) aren’t good enough to win this.  By The Grace (Noblet / Coffey) will get back and doesn’t have the class to run them down.

Trev’s Tip

This is a really wide-open race.  War Legend and Battlecamp look value at the moment.
